SLB should take break
by tinku prasad on Nov 11, 2007 05:34 PM  | Hide replies

just saw SLB interview. he has become mad after disaster of SAWARYIYa. I dont know why he is not admitting he has made CRAP. he is blaming indian audience. If audience diascrad the movie then it is final verdict. He should accept the defeat. He is just went out of control as his movie was crushed by SRK charisma.... He has already done mistake for releasing movie in same day as OSO has released. Yeah he would made good movie definately he would be winner. i dont know how can expect that he will do worst job and expecting for good result

This is a work of art
by Sumit Jeloka on Nov 11, 2007 05:19 PM

Awesome visuals, awesome sets, awesome songs, awesome chemistry....in all an enchanting experience! The newbies are fabulous - Sonam has amazing grace and Ranbir has amazing spontaneity.
It's like being in a dream world, so what if snow follows rain and potholes look more like paint palettes.
The elegance of the actors, the dreamworld town, the haunting songs, the scenes from the clock tower, and the amazing blue and greens simply mesmerize you.
The love story touches your heart. Somehow the subtlety has been lost on certain sections. For these sections, the subtlety is undecipherable and the magnificence is hamming.
Regardless of what the reviewers tell you, go and watch this work of art for yourself. You won't repent it. :)
- Sumit

Every news Channel including aaj tak showed that OSO is better than Saawariya. and also these channels showed people did not like the movie saawaiya after wathching the first show.
If you dont like OSO then dont watch it. Go and watch the boooooooooooooring movie of the year Saawariya

I have seen the Sawaria on the first show with family. Generally we have divided opinions, but in the end everyone was depressed and felt cheated. As this review outlines..it is complete disaster specially when expectations were high from SLB. For pay thoery to the press, I am from the media industry and I can tell everyone with complete certainty...no amount of money spent in promotion/press can make movie a HIT. AND WHEN THESE SELF-SMUG DIRECTORS START ACCEPTING THEIR MISTAKES RATHER THAN BLAMING ON PEOPLE TASTE/INTELLECT. I DON'T LIKES;)

I am suprised that you, who's in a responsible profession is passing such derogatory comments.
Movies are an art, you can negate the art if u wish to, but you cant degrade creators of that art.

y dont u admit that SRK is the real king after watching sawariya such a crap movie...well it doesnt matter what international critics say, coz indian audience love to see srk repeatedly..so if u say srk something unusual this doesnt affect boxoffice collections of OSO...go see n sawariya 10 times even as it wont improve box office collection to 0.00005% even...OSO grt movie grt srk...

Saawariya & Om Shanti Om, A comparative study., From Viral Mehta

Before we climb conclusions or parley about these two films, let%u2019s for one recognize that producers & directors of both the movies have won through transmitting a bug called interest within emblematic Indian audiences. Look at this place once again. Devoid of anxiety. Without any concern. What do you find? Just in less then 36 hours we all are here advocating, conferencing, fighting, venturing to prove so called heads over our shoulders. Admit my friends we were all lost in the promos. In other words we were sold. We paid the ticket charges weeks sooner than we actually stepped in a movie hall. And now the vista is %u2013 we are burdened to rationalize our decision by saying they made it good or bad. My clever friends, the decision you are trying to justify was not yours. That was indulged within your arteries and veins by these magicians. This is called real entertainment. This jogs my remembrance of a dialogue in Om Shanti Om, %u201CAgar tum kisi cheez ko dil se chaahne lagte ho toh saari kaaynaat use haasil karne main tumhare saath jud jaati hai%u201D. True it is. We are with Sanjay, Farah, Shahrukh, isn%u2019t it? So, let%u2019s first salute the makers as true critics.
Movie making is not as simple as writing piece here. Just try making one like Saawariya once in your life. I%u2019m sure even Sanjay would not be able to make Saawariya in his life again. Yes, in future, say after 100 years people may re-color it or re dub it with their technology then. Like we did with Moughal-e Aazam & accommodated

Like we did with Moughal-e Aazam & accommodated ourselves with gigantic success. Similarly Saawariya is one and only. It is an epic. Who ever is saying it is bad is truly lying to his or her own self. Look at the colors, casts, compositions and concerts. He has melted his heart with yours. Each frame is a work of art.
Only one mistake Sanjay made is he generally over projected his art work before the release. He should follow the Ashutosh Gowarikar way in Lagaan. Gowarikar just released promos. No one was aware of the story till they enter the hall. Saawariya promos were gorgeous but talks of Sonam & Ranbir with media were not.
They say Ranbir is stupendous, unquestionably he is. He is so charismatic on screen as if Saawriya is his 100th film. For this young girl Sonam I would like to say that she is truly mesmerizing. Sanjay has projected what she is. For actors like Sonam, director does not struggle to get her in the spirit of character. Congratulations Sonam! You have done a brilliant job. Anil should be proud of you. Don%u2019t get thwarted by what people say. They are so much involved with Saqeena that they are not ready to accept Saqeena going to Imaan. You should enjoy this success of your performance. You will be rocking silver screen in near future. Only problem is you have a few males of your standing available as your co-stars in Bollywood.
Sanjay, I was not your fan before Saawariya. I think this is unveiling of real Sanjay Leela Bhansali too. To summation I woul

Sanjay, I was not your fan before Saawariya. I think this is unveiling of real Sanjay Leela Bhansali too. To summation I would give back your words to you all, %u201CZindgi main kabhi gham aaye toh uski aankhon main aankhen daal kar dekho, us ka saamna karo%u201D. Well-done people!
Om Shanti Om! Farah? Your have done amazingly well job let me tell you. Where were you after the title song in the film? Shahrukh is conventional looking like SRK always. You Farah have pulled him out of SRKism. But. But after reaching crest, abruptly your script writer has shrunken? No, please don%u2019t try & justify by saying %u2018time transition%u2019. This is not done Farah. Dipika, you have done a fine job. Somewhere your writer was more slanting towards hero Omi or OK. But really fantastic Shantipriya! Sharukh, you have very high potential of being producer; there is no doubt about it. However, be cautious before you opt for writer. You have incredible marketing strength. People may find you cunning at times, nothing wrong till you are ready to pull your line longer then smearing others. I would like to say one more thing SRK, when you think you have no competition other then your own self, your job becomes sturdier, tougher. %u2018Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani%u2019, %u2018Main Hun Na%u2019, %u2018Chuk De%u2019 were far more superior then OSO. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has traversed his own standards but you SRK? I%u2019m sorry; expectations from you were higher after watching your interviews on news channels. Any ways all you people, have proved that

by tiwari family on Nov 11, 2007 03:11 PM  | Hide replies

Farah should be punished by saying that this movie " is tribute to 70'S"
70s movies were far better in content, we still hum songs from those era unlike Aayeram Gayaram songs of Todays...

It's said that people here are giving it Hindu/muslim or SRK/Anti SRK tone.

Watch this movie on VCD. In multiplexes you will loose 1000 of Rs in tickets/popcorn and you will need Aspirin too!!

AND FARAH ONCE GAIN DON'T SAY THAT IT'S TRIBUTE TO 70'S BY MAKING FUN OF 70'S

What do u think of urself.. you direction isn't worh a PENNY GOTCHA!!!!!

Stupid Tricks never attract crowds. Time will tell the true story. Wait & See. But i would like to say "Please dont polarize trifling matters based on religion. Our country needs Hindu & Muslim unity for prosperity. Our cricket team truly amplifies that fact."

Saawariya - A piece of Art
by sunsha on Nov 11, 2007 01:44 PM  | Hide replies

When RK made Mera Naam Joker(MNJ), he had great expectations from it but the movie flopped at box office. It had the plot, it had beautiful songs, it had good acting, yet it did not appeal to the public at that time.
Raj Kapoor took this to heart and came out with Bobby with two new comers to launch his son Rishi Kapoor (who was in Mera Naam Joker as child artist) and Dimple Kapadia. He had a point to prove to the same public which had rejected MNJ and he proved it with Bobby.
We now have son of Rishi Kapoor - Ranbir and Sonam as the lead pair of Saawariya. SLB too has a point to prove on many fronts with the new comers, new composer, new-different kind of sets and with the simplest of love stories. One who is in true love will appreciate this movie more than a person who goes to a hall just to have outright fun seeing a masala Bollywood flick.

The way SLB has woven the fabric with frail thread of love is commendable. Agreed, the original story has been stretched a bit too long to have weak links here and there, yet on the whole, the movie is a work of art, that not everyone can understand and appreciate..not the masses atleast. To that extent, Saawariya may take a beating at box-office just as MNJ did.

While I was seeing the movie, I felt - What the heck! Why is it dragging and so long. This feeling was there all through the movie in most parts. After I came out and was driving back home, I was still thinking of the movie and the more I thought about it, the more I l

I liked it.
The camera shots, the direction, the sudden break of giggle by Sonam while she has the inherent fear of social stigma, the spontaneous acts by Ranbir, the hidden meaning in facial expressions of Ranbir n Sonam including the dialogues are note worthy.
The music was a hit even before the movie released but the songs grow on you instantly when seen in the movie. Dialogues delivered by Ranbir is exactly the same as Rishi while Sonam exudes a million emotions through her eyes and innocence.

The expectant smile on Zora Sehgals face - that of Ranbir to return return while she is feeling his photo-frame with her fragile old hands is the epitome of this movie. Many will not even notice this scene but it has to be a SLB to conceive it in his head to give a colossal dimension to it.

Javed Akhtar had once said, - There are many good movies which are box office hits that one appreciates while it is running yet forget them later but there are few movies which are not appreciated or hit when seen but many years down the line, one still remembers then and the reasons why they were not a hit.

After Mera Naam Joker, Saawariya is one such master piece that falls in this category.

Film making

It takes words and and only words to criticize any form of art. But it takes lot of hard work, focus dedication and sweat to make one. For every film maker making a film is just like giving a birth to a baby, and criticizing one is just like saying the baby is black, wheatish or ugly or fat. So we should accept every film/baby in its own individuality/identity and should not push over view good or bad on others. As everyone has its own taste to admire, what not appeal to you might do wonders for other. Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder.
