Rediff please don't let these craps writes review for Music
by satheesh shankaranarayanan tharrekkad on Jun 08, 2007 09:55 AM

Tell me a legendary Music director in Hindi after R.D Burman who has long delivered soothing melodies. There is none. The present day's Music directors known only bangra tones and Rap Music of Item numbers.

If Illayraja's yesteryear music is making a mark in Hindi films now means then think at what stage hindi music is now. Poor people not able to find the write talent.

Fire this Reviewer or Rediff's reputation is at stake

How could Rediff hire a reviewer who doesnt know the difference between a Trumpet and a Saxophone. This arrogant ignorance is showcased throughout the review.
Music cannot be more excellent than this. Its a pity to find people adamant not to like this album. I had always expected Ilayaraja to remix his older melodies and wow hes done that here and his charm is unfading.
Can the sun and the sky become monotonous just because its the same everyday ? Shreya Ghosal's voice is amazing and I could listen to her rendition of 100 songs if viable. Why is the Reviewer obsessed with repetition and being childish about all this. All the hue and cry is just gross stupidity.
I havent heard another musician to have explored the exploited the 13 notes to such perfection and beauty that one could really understand music in a right way compared to all the garbage out there. We are so lucky to live in an era which produced such amazing talent.
I havent seen the movie yet but have listened to the music a 1000 times and yet I am unfazed of the so called reviewers' so called review.

looks like Rediff wanted to play a big practical joke on everyone and hence hired 'Dumb and Dumber' to review 'Albert Einstein'... and rediff.. u almost got me...

The reviewer is a disgrace to the Musical Fraternity.I suggest rediff to hire another 'someone who has ears' reviewer to review this album.
Bad publicity is the last thing rediff wants.Let not a stupid review spell disaster for Rediff.

your absolutely right. the maestro's music for cheeni kum is mind blowing. can you expect the deaf to hear? No! you should be a musician / music lover to comment on a music director who has made India proud with his incredible music talent. Ronica

Cannot sit back while some third rate reviewer comment on a Mastro's just another masterpiece.
by Pramma M on Jun 02, 2007 04:05 PM

Ironically this pathetic review has worked as a disgrace the reviewer herself. In her words this review is a perfect example that Sonia also fall in the rot of talking every thing in a negative manner.

Anyone who listen to the music will accept that this review is absolutely an disgrace not to the Music director but to Rediff and Sonia. This review is something to be seen only on Sonia's diary as a personal opinion not on rediff site. Rediff shud not allow some one who donno what is music to comment about music.

Not every one understand the depth of music. when rediff gives that responsibility to someone to review on music of someone who taught A.R himself, they should be deserving.

Not someone who just listen to third rate himesh type songs, and some desi bullshit's like bombay rockers or such kinds.

I respect other's view. But it is lil harsh i feel :)

I don understand what Sonia thinks as monotonous. I do understand the voices are re used. When in the world, voice alone has become music!!!!. She gives credit to one songs just for the freshness of Vijay Orakash voice.

Dont you think evey single song by Himesh Reshamaya is monotonous. Ppl are applauding and ready to appreciate that. Anyone who has some music knowledge will tell me what is the Rut she is talking about??

Not reviewers Best!!!!!
by muthu somasundaram on May 28, 2007 11:34 PM

I think the reviewer don;t have ears. Eventhough the tunes are some 20 years old, they are far better than current bollywood crap!!!. The genius who was the first in asia to perform in RPO, the genius who can understand mozart's , bach's , beethoven's; the genius who has stolen the millions of hearts by his music; was critized by a dump reviewer? how can we tolerate this! she needs variety of voices? ha then pick up some feminine male singers in bollywood who sings thru nose not from throat! and enjoy the crap! within a month a dumb maliks or miliands will copy the tunes and make a statement like "this is my tune, i got idea when i was clapping my fingers".

Laugh! Laugh! Laugh! this is the reply to the review--- "The highlight of this song are the hilarious interludes by Amitabh Bachchan."----

ha ha ha ! don't u know the meaning of interlude??? Amithab's thakara dappa voice (scratching a stone with another stone) is beautiful??? good joke..

Amitab is great actor, ok , but his voice hilaroius?? this shows the capability for perception in reviewers ear!

Please study the theme composing for a film from any hollywood films for example: STAR WARS by john williams. then u will know the brilliance of ilaiyaraja the genius!!!

You can't block sunlight with your palm!!!
by on May 23, 2007 08:59 AM  | Hide replies

Guys,

I think it's time to show a little tolerance. Of all the places, I think, internet is the place that is most democratic. And everybody has a right to express his/her own opinion. Sonia just did that. She expressed her view whether it is piece of crap or gem. I don't see anything wrong with that at all. And I am sure she knows whether her opinion is a piece of crap or a gem.

Was she biased? I don't care. Can anyone stop the sunlight with his/her palm? I don't think so.

And somebody said this is just a generation of Ilaiyaraaja, (somebody), (somebody)...... (????)

Well, I think the music of Ilaiyaraaja itself is a generation, an era. Why? when you are the first Asian to perform at RPO of London, you are an era. When you have scored music for nearly 850 movies (that is almost 4000 songs not to mention the BGMs), you are an era. When The Great Naushad said that you have achieved what we haven't achieved in 100 years, you are an era. When you have the record for the Tamil album (Thiruvasagam) that sold more numbers than any other Tamil album, you are an era. John Williams took seven months to one year to compose music for Saving Private Ryan. When you compose music for the whole movie in weeks possibly in days for Oscar bidding, thats too three movies (Nayagan, Anjali, Hey Ram), you are an era. When you write music for a movie in front of the director and producer in few minutes, may be an hour and the album goes on to become one of the greatest audio hits (Chinna Tambi) ever, you are an era. And despite all these achievements if you weren't awarded any major central government award, you are an era and example of bias in our present day India.

And quiet honestly many of the music directors in India can't be even included in the same sentence with Ilaiyaraaja (with all due respect to other great musicians who are an era in their own right).

Cheers guys, and stop scolding sonia.

Definitely its a easy job for Illairaja. He has conveniently copied a few tunes from one of his old compositions from movie "Geeta" an old Kannada classic.
