by Varkey Mathew on May 14, 2007 08:18 PM

Haha....

The verdict is out.. Check out the rediff BO Report..... :)

Sen's futile attempt to paint a positive picture on Basu's bakwaas movie... with so many unjustified stars has backfired.. .The movie has fallen on its head!!!

i believe you have gone too much in to the story and comparisons. in my opinion film deserved 4 star. script writer has done great job in creating parallel stories and linking them together right from start to end. few people have given splendid perfomance like Irfan,Konkana , Kaykay & Shilpa. Script was little too filmy but a good time pass for weekend. absolute view for metro crowd atleast.

Very nice film
by chats chatter on May 14, 2007 05:06 PM

I definitely think this is one of the best films of 2007. Firstly its just 2 hours, packed with some super performances esp Irrfan Khan, Konkana and Shilpa. Lovely songs, top class cinematography. Definitely worth a watch. Anurag Basu is a director to watch out for!

Worth watching once
by Rajesh Ray on May 14, 2007 04:34 PM

Metro is indeed a good movie and indeed worth watching at least once in a cinema hall. However, in my opinion it does not compare that favourably with the director's (Anurag Basu's)previous film,'Gangster-A Love Story', which was a lot more engrossing and stayed with you long after it was over. That is perhaps because the viewer's attention span gets diverted /distraced with as many as 3 different stories / tracks running parallel, with the result that one is not able to fully absorb any one story /track in particular. I also felt that the Dharmendra / Nafisa Ali part was redundant and didn't quite fit in with the others.

The highlight of the film has to be the fine performances of all its cast esp. Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma, ably supported by the others. Also, the duration of 2 hr 10 min is about right and comfortable for the viewer-a very well edited film.

Overall assessment: Good movie but not great !

Not Quite
by on May 14, 2007 03:25 PM

I think i know exactly whats wrong with the movie ... good cast .. great performances ... and great songs ... but essentially there is no storyline i felt ... this thing nagged me thoughout the movie ... and suddenly it became too obvious that wherever a girl and a guy met, either there was some formal talk or there was S*X ... and finally, in the end, the director just jostled up things for a happy ending (?)

too morbid an approach ... probably directors can do without needing to sell their movies so desperately ...

but yeah .. it could sell ... and the director is successful(?) if it sells ...

Metro belongs to Irrfans humour antics
by Apurva Tank on May 14, 2007 02:36 PM

Irrfan khan is heart and soul not only of the film but also he is the untapped by the film farternity. Hello are u guys listening kindly take note of this talented actor who has struggled for decades to be appreciated. Watch out metro and you will agree with me the magic of versatile actor. His best is yet to come be it hassil, aan, rog, killer, warrior, Namesake or metro he just is the saiving grace of this films. Apart from irrfan music of metro by pritam is the new trend setter. The rock band concept just did wonders to the film.

Anurag's direction is top notch. He is turning out to be a clever and thinking filmmaker who uses his resources very well.

Of other cast except for the dharmendra track all other guys had a meaning ful role be it shilpa, kay kay,Shiney, sharman, kangana or konkana all were too good. Special mention for konkana she compliments irrfan very well especially the terrace scene where she is creaming to get de-stressed.

Overall great original stuff. I saw the film twice in 2 days. For me it was Irrfan and pritams music that forced me see it twice.

Great stuff go for it

Raja Sen's reviews
by Punugu Bekku on May 14, 2007 01:45 PM

Ono this one - I adore Raja's twisted way of writing the review. He is alarmingly innovative in his style. Keep it boy, show us more!
