Nailed!!!

The writer has beautifully nailed the whole scenario. Have been constantly following up the CBB racism row since beginning. I admit that for me Shilpa was just another pretty face in the crowd of bollywood but after the incident she has gone up in esteem & my respect.
The kind of nastiness she has endured without losing her dignity is quite amazing. She has come out to be really clasy lady . Yes Shilpa, you did us pround !!!
Hats Off!!!

I agree and now let us saved Shilpa from being bashed by the jealous people over there, because they r clearly not seeing the bigger picture and dissing her.I have to open email accounts everywhere just to support her so that I can write my views and make people understand what this is all about,so that the media there will stop babbling about how much money she gets.Top Bollywood actors get much more money for their films.

Shilpa ! I admire you. You get paid crores to be humilated. Well done. People go abroad , get humilated and make money - nice bussiness.
Was Shilpa representing India ? How India got humilated ? Indian Media is not concerned with truth but sensation only. Hell with such reports and articles.

Another jealous Indian! How many of you are there - 1 billion ? Seem to think that just because someone earns big money, they deserve to be kicked around! Why are millions of Indians like you aspiring to work in MNCs, IT sectors and other industries or trying to go abroad if not for earning money. Where did YOU for that matter get the money to buy your computer, when thousands of your countrymen are starving?? Shoudl you then also not be kicked around and abused by your poorer countrymen for being more wealthier? You damn someone for making money legitimately, but yet have no qualms about having a comfortable life yourself. Get over that pathetic mentality that just because someone is wealthy, it does mean that he or she deserves to be kicked around!

Oh u r so narrow minded, just because the media told u have much she earned. She had no idea this was going to happen. The money is her worth, this is how much she would have earned if she had been in India. And please go and ask ur bollywood actors how much some of them earn for 20 minutes show and u will be shocked.I can give u a hint, double the amount Shilpa got for a 20 minute dance show. She got abused for being Indian.Do u want to be abused because u r Indian? Is being Indian something to be ashamed of?

shilpa nothing special
by h r on Jan 22, 2007 06:04 PM  | Hide replies

Why do you praise someone?Shilpa went to a place where people dont mind masturbating in front of camera(equivalent to porn) for money. Is she an example? She went their for her own benefit. There is absolutely no need to praise anyone.

Jade and shilpa both are ignorant.Aperson who is racist is just showing how ignorant he/she is.And a person must understand this.Indians should stop thinking they are inferior. No one can hurt us or anyone.

Please media...for a few bucks stop making dumb comments.Shilpa is nothing(she is a lovable person,i don't deny).Stop praising for the sake of it

yeah! Its really disgusting to see people just to sound so called "intellectuals", refuse to be fair.

I really hate the indian media which is trying to turn its back to something which is criticized by the whole world.
Their plea? That India has bigger problems to deal with. huh!
so that means - since there are so many ppl dying everyday of bigger deseases, people who have minor ones dont have any right to get treated and they should not raise their voices and should quitely bear the pain.

What rubbish!!

Why would other respect us when our own people dont. Sad!! Very SAD!!

The Indian media are full of classict snobs, who themselves earn big money, but have no qualms trying to bring down any other Indian who is doing well outside of India. Maybe they are very pro-abuse Shilpa, because there is a lot of abuse of lower level employees going in many of these Indian media by the upper-level mangement. Or perhaps they are funded heavily by western countries (I know for sure that IBN-CNN is funded by US and therefore tend to be totally pro-west). Therefore they are trying to undermine and downplay what has happened to Shilpa Shetty.

I didnt find any Indian(the ones staying inside) commenting on the same. There are more serious issues to be discussed over here than Shilpa Shetty or for that matter Ash or Abhishek nupitals.
Think of the foreigners coming over here.India has seen the worst cases of treatement of the foriegners including the cases of cheating, looting and raping included.
Shilpa is not in the show as the ambassador of India. She as an individual has chosen the show for her own ends may be monetary or may be for things known only to her.
So let us not make a hero out of her or a role model out of her.
No offence meant against anyone but I dont think this topic requires so much of a mention in India.

Absolutely agree with you. There are other important things that we totally neglect and cling on to the news that is really not important. The author, with great pain and rhetory tried to portray shilpa as a great person..which is SADLY not the case. She went for her own good. Also, she denied having been under any racist comments. So sad, she was denying the very fact that many indian media tried to defend her on. Enough is enough. Shilpa is beautiful.Lets stop it at that.

i agree with you Ramesh. What has shilpa done to make us proud? One day she claims that she was attacked with racist comments and the very next day, she takes her charges back. And not only Shilpa, we should back up each and every person who suffers from these kind of ordeals. Stop calling her roll model...but thanks to media for their battle againest this racism.

THE ENTIRE EPISODE ON THIS RACIAL DISCRIMINATION ON SHILPA AND THINGS LIKE THAT. IF YOU CLOSELY LOOK AT THE OVERALL PICTURE ON INDIA-YOU CAN SEE PEOPLE OF NORTH MAKING RACIAL REMARKS ON PEOPLE FROM SOUTH AND EVEN U CAN SEE IT WITH THE PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT STATE....I STRONGLY FEEL INSTEAD OF WE EXPRESSING OUR CONCERN WITH GOVT. OF UK WE HAVE TO KEEP OUR HOUSE IN ORDER FIRST.

I dont think thats the case. I have lived in India all my life and now work in London. I am myself a North Indian & have seen no racial reservations towards people frm south...

I know for a fact that nothing of this nature exists in our part of the society...

i would agree entirely with you
north made fun of in south and south made fun of in south
it is basically with people
leave a gora-the-so-kind-word reference to a foreigner with a group of people in big boss here...he/she will be kicked out by the members and audience on the first day :-)

Dalbir very well written. This reflects the true sentiments of NRI's and Brit-Asians in UK.
I also agree with a reader's comment about Mahesh Bhatt and so called intellectuals of society.
Shilpa has really conducted herself in a very dignified way and has done India proud. I would say her efforts were commendable and did India proud more than some one winning 'miss world' contest.
Hope the media in India too understand the ground reality here in UK and support Shilpa.
Cheers:)

Yes I too think that she has done more than winning a Miss World contest. She was abused for being Indian and acting like an Indian.I am so proud of her that she acted Indian, because I think everyone in India should act Indian, not try to copy the western style and immoral thinking.Remember the India that once used to be many many years ago.Now it is turning into another UK,USA.Adore the Indian clothes, food, culture, tradition and values and be united as a nation.I am very proud of Shilpa because she showed the world her ?Indianess`and people made fun of it.There is nothing to be ashamed of being Indian,it is something to be proud of.
