Exclusive Movie Review Chak De! India
by Mustafa Ansari on Aug 07, 2007 06:54 PM  | Hide replies

%u2022      India%u2019s top most production house Yash Raj.
%u2022      India%u2019s top most actor Shah Rukh Khan.
%u2022      To top it there combination which have given wonderful movies like Darr (Super Hit), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (All Time Blockbuster), Dil To Pagal Hai (Blockbuster), Mohabbatein (Super Hit) and Veer %u2013 Zaara (Blockbuster).

So naturally the expectations from this combination next release Chak De! India is sky high.

The difference this time around is that Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra is not directing this movie and Shah Rukh Khan doesn%u2019t have Raj, Rahul or Veer kind of role.

So now the main question arises does the film live upto the expectations and the answer is yes.

The movie appeals and appeals in a big way.
The arc of CDI is different than the usual Bollywood movie, but it has emotions which are very appealing as well as gripping. Hence the emotions by itself will compensate for any superficial structural difference.

To make a movie based on woman hockey required guts because this subject is alien for many, but hats off to Shimit Amin for making this movie and showing different sports for the first time in Indian cinema history. Shimit Amin clearly seems to be a new and better Shimit Amin. It almost appears that Ab Tak Chappan was Shimit%u2019s graduating movie while CDI is his first professional (emphasis on professional) attempt.

If you ever had an iota of doubt about Shah Rukh Khan's versatility, it would evaporate the moment you watch Chak De! India. This is amongst Shah Rukh Khan's most accomplished performances ever. One can't imagine Chak De! India without Shah Rukh Khan. The role gives him immense scope to exhibit a gamut of emotions and the actor carries not just his role, but the entire film on his firm shoulders.

People will be amazed by the acting caliber of the new girls. Everyone brings something new to the movie. Every sub story adds something to the story.

Waiting for Chak De
by Diljeet Singh on Aug 07, 2007 06:46 PM  | Hide replies

I am eagerly waiting for Chak De because it is touching a topic which has been getting step-motherly treatment in our country for so long from every one of us.
I hope Shahrukh's name will help revive this game which once was our national pride. And hopefully it may get out of clutches of non-players who are administrators of this game these days.

Thank you Mr.Chopra and Mr.Shimit Amin, this was long due to highlight India's national game. Many people dont know how beautiful, skillful this game is.I am sure this film will work as good moral booster for our hockey team. India has glorious past in Hockey, but present is very bleak, i am sure this will open eyes of many and people will come forward to promote this game more.

by binish mathew on Aug 07, 2007 06:41 PM

Looking at the present scenario women's team has done much better than men's team but still they never made it into the front page...they won the commonwealth game defeating giants like australia...still nobody gave them a damn.....V indians r just obsessed with cricket...a win here n there wud make as proud....v shud learn from Australians who are gud in every sports...Its high time to give respect where it is due......
