shame on bollywood
by ravi dubey on Aug 08, 2007 04:44 PM  | Hide replies

Frnds many films what we think that one of the master piece of bollywood actually is not. Frm SHOLAY to RANG DE BASANTI allmost every film is a copy of any foreign movie. SHOLAY is the copy of great AKIRA KUROSAWA's SEVEN SAMURAI. And BLACK is copy of MIRACLE WORKER. And RANG DE BASANTI is copy of JESUS OF MONTRILL. So today when I heard that BigB is awarded best actor for BLACK then I cant resist myself. A copy cat industry.

shame on hollywood.
I am sick of watching "distater" movies (titanic, independence day). The industry which does not have good stories -- makes kind of movies where a giant monkey falls in love with a girl --- gimme a break!!!
Mr can u tell any holyywood movies that can match the following -
Angoor; Anand; Lagaan; Lage raho munnabhai; Maqbool; Omkara (now if u call they are copied from shakespear - then i pity u -- he was a writer as any other writer for hollywood)
And lastly - can a hollywood make a movies like Amelie??? Watch it bro ----- only cinematography and technique doesnt make nice storytelling!

Well most movies in the world are not completely original anyway. The idea of a disgraced hero coming back to redeem himself as a mentor to others is as old as time and can be seen in many cultures, over and over again.

Many Hollywood movies (including award winning ones) borrow elements from other movies as well,
although they are much better at acknowledging their sources than our movies.

For example:

Magnificent Seven is a based on Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.

Star Wars is based on Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress

Last years Oscar winner for Best Picture, The Departed is based on the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs.

Also, look out for "Gangsta M.D." releasing next year which is based on Munnabhai MBBS (which itself has elements of Patch Adams and various other movies)

SRK is faaaaaaaaaaaar from no.1. PAHELI getting into the nominations instead of black speaks volumes for SRK and the way he goes about bollywood and the way he earns his reputation. Black would've given a better look to india at the oscars than something like paheli. I wonder what the nominators have been influenced by,,, just the film(unlikely for any jury when there is black) or some paperstuff?

Oh god!! i got a horrible thought.. just imagine shimit amin casting this SRK in place of NANA patekar in ab tak chhappan.. Ohhhhh!! can't stop laughing... for a year atleast..

fans can boast of him.. nothing wrong.. but this guy sees the truth everyday in the mirror..hence is he growing sick day by day....
what do u say fans??

NAtional awards
by coldkiller on Aug 08, 2007 02:57 AM  | Hide replies

i am sure this film will fetch him the national award for best actor in 2008 no matter how bad he acts. COngress is looking to counter bachchan who is in SP right now, SRK is told to be close to Congress, they are in power right now, this is a patriotic film about what is or once was our national sport. surely they'll try to influence the jury and get SRK the award. let us take a look at other bollywood actors who got the award by nook or crook.

Bachchan did it twice, once for Agneepath and then for Black. agneepath was a shit*y commercial film. Ashok Kumar was the jury chairman then. malayalam actor thilakan lost out on a deserved award for his brilliant performance in 'Perunthachan'. again AB got it for black after all the court hungama. Mohanlal losing out this time. whenever a Bollywood actor has won, there has been huge controversy.

Are you a MALLU? Did Mr Ashok Kumar tell you that he was influenced by Political parties. I'm not supporting either. But I Just want to know how you got the information.. Don't say it's common sense. Common sense says "Shut up when you don't know the truth but don't listen to crap stories"

yeah i am a Malayali. you do not need anyone to tell you that sometimes these awards are fixed, especially when the Bollywood people are competing for the top honours. where are you from Sarat Babu? seems like you don't follow the news. this year's national awards were taken to courts and were only declared yesterday. a member of the jury came out into the open against the pressure and the outside influence the jury members faced from these bollywood wallahs and politicians. one news channel did a programme on this and even stated that whenever Bollywood has won, there has been huge controversies. an exception would be the award Shabana Azmi won. even Raveen Tandon got an award!!! just imagine!!! read the story

now use your common sense Mr Sarath Babu and just put your keyboard in your mouth

SRK only gives hit films when the herione has an equal role to him. eg.. DDLJ, VEERZAARA etc etc.

All his other films have been average or flop where he is the main person.

CHAK DE will FLOP. Im 99.9% sure...

I am not a big fan of SRK but Mr Rizwan Khan has not seen other hits like Baazigar, Karan Arjun, Darr, Main hoo na, Mohabbatein etc.... better see them and also judge whether the herione has an equal role to him. People just can't digest his success.
