Where's the faith??
by allat on May 20, 2006 11:06 AM

I don't understand why the people of good faith are worried about the release of the Da Vinci Code? the book and the movie claim its just fiction. Its the shallow faith that creates a stir in the hearts. A movie of all things should not shake the faith of all believers. It SHOULD not and WILL NOT.

Thank God the film is made by Hollywood If an Indian Hindu Producer has made the film then the all the politician Like Karunanidhi, Lallo, Mulayam etc would have made a big hue and cry and he would have even got some kind of Fatwa from so called secular forces. GOD SAVE INDIA

Good decision
by Santhosh TN on May 19, 2006 02:24 PM

It's a good decision that the controversial movie 'Da vinci code' is going to be released at last. The latest news what I heared was, the movie is going to be released with an Adult certificate and bold disclaimer text should be displayed on the beginning and ending of the film. I think that, now this movie got a big publicity.

Yellow Authoring/ Movie Making
by Ashish Roy on May 19, 2006 10:48 AM

Non Christians should support the Christians in this matter otherwise, in future, we shall have numerous fictitious authors and fim producers trying to make movies, stories and thrillers, degrading famous temples, and mosques and their office-bearers. Whenever a film is made with a person or organisation in mind, it should treat the subject with respect, unless there is absolute, tangible evidence to treat it otherwise. Try to depict, as murderous, any office-bearer of any famous temple or mosque in India, and you will know what I mean. Try to demean any God in India through films, and you will know what I mean. Just because this film is made in US, or has internationally famed stars does not mean that it is acceptable in any way. The author of the book (Dan Brown)had intended to make money by being as controversial and blasphemous as he could be, and succeeded. The movie-makers want to cash in on the controversy too. The book and the movie are nothing but a universally unfailing effort of making money, by creating controversy. Equivalent to yellow journalism!! Everybody should shun the book and the movie.

Good Decision

This is a good job by Censor Board giving the movie A cert. Becoz the younger ones should have good feelings for God and the elders can judge the fantasy of the writer.

Da Vinci Reality of myth
by Regan on May 19, 2006 07:57 AM

Well, as a catholic i had no problem with either reading the book or for that matter even watching the movie, the problem is not the scenes rather the basis on which the movie and the book have been based. Dan Brown has used fiction and historical locations/facts and entwined it together, this is a very bad mix for any religious community. It is important that members from other religous faiths realize that what is potrayed in the movie is just another story.

why not?
by stv on May 19, 2006 07:39 AM

Maybe a ban would sound too far fetched..since we tend to think of ourselves as a very 'broad minded' generation. but I dont think there shud b a prob if they add disclaimers at the beginning and at the end. Concerning the A certificate.. the church is just concerned abt the effects on young minds. Children have definitely tried to imitate shaktimaan and superman.. wat is the gaurantee that this film (including its confusing conclusions and gory scenes.. dont forget the 'god sent' murderer..) will not affect young minds?Atleast the bishops are broad minded enuf to let the adult audience watch this movie in india.
Then ofcourse, before comparing any reactions to issues concerning other relegions, I think we as indians shud b proud to support all relegions and their sentiments and if any such movie really does hurt relegious sentiments of a community,i think we shud all aupport that community.

What about the child abuse scandals??
by bipin prakash on May 19, 2006 05:21 AM

Yes they have a problem with a murderer making a sign of the cross. Then what about all those innocent children who were molested and abused sexually by priests all around the world ? They are still practising and conducting masses, are they not. Deal with them first before even thinking about commenting on this.
