It's different
by keshav on Feb 09, 2006 12:24 AM

Saw Rang de Basanti last night.
Simply brilliant.
If one sets out to analyse it clinically, What were the things that stood out?
Ø      The central theme where he tries to bridge the chasm between the generation that lived through the Independence struggle and todays youth. The technique of interspersing sepia with colour sequences may be a tad simplistic, but I think he carried it off well. The clichés spouted by the protagonists are exactly what one hears in and around the college campuses. The dialogues are really everyday stuff, not the least stylised. The disillusionment and apathy is brought out well, without reducing the boys to caricatures
Ø      The conclusion. Many of my friends disagree with the ending. They say that it was unrealistic. Again, just go back to the words of Bhagat Singh and Azad. To awaken the people, the act has to have punch. Sermonizing gets you nowhere. The boys in the movie did what they had to do. It is the story writer and directors point of view. Give it credence. Just for a moment, juxtapose yourself to the early part of the 20th century. What prompted the Bhagat Singhs, Azads, Bismils and Ashfaqullas to do what they did?

RDB:A fantastic movie!
by Snehal Atwe on Feb 08, 2006 12:17 PM

RDB is truly a fantastic movie. Its cast, music, the atmosphere it creates is perfect!you truly feel ashamed of yourself when you come out of the theatre that you have done nothing for your country.the idea of the assasination of the defence minister is truly reflective of what todays youth think about the politicians of the day and will definitely be mutual in the youth all over the country who care about their motherland!

all hype
by hanif on Feb 07, 2006 12:52 PM

rdb is not certainly upto the mark.it's just a mixture of some previous films.that's all.only the songs are too good.aamir's acting is definetly becoming repetitive.he definetly needs improvisation.only for one time watch.for others i would advise them to buy a dvd and watch it at home.

rang de basnti... super duper hit of the year
by mdk on Feb 06, 2006 03:31 PM

Movie is 2 good.. best of the acting.each and every character was too good.every character played an important role in the movie.it was not at all a amir khan movie.but it was a movie of this generation.its really an awakening.. ther should be such revolution against our enimies ie our politicians who have made the condition of our country so pathetic.movie is successful in sending the message that all thse hindu muslim problems are created by politicials and not by civilians.. they are responsible for riots and blasts in our country.politicians are the terrorists.sharman joshi was cute.soha ali khan gave a fabulous perfomance.Gulabo also perfomed good.Siddhart stood out.the way he acted.his expressions.his fight against his father was killing him inside.that was too good.kunal kapoor acted very well he has a good voice.i think Shah rukh should learn something from amir khan.taking all the credit of the film always and manipulating a film for selfish reasons dosent make a film a hit.Amir is one of the best actors of this generations.best movie/best direction/best screen play/best music/best acting etc etc.each and every award for RDB.hpe awards r not gvn 2 SRK or rani 4 stupid mvs.

Great Story With a Weak Script
by James Kallery on Feb 06, 2006 12:18 PM

The movie has a great story to narrate; in tune with socio-economic realities of today's India. It depicts very clearly the corruption, the Hindu-Muslim divide, the dirty politics and THE idealism in the youth of the country. The script is however weak in parts and presents situations which are difficult to believe and seem too simplistic. for example the take over of the radio station and paramilitary forces out to suppress the truth.
