Why i wont watch Zinda??
by Shyam Sundar on Jan 21, 2006 11:54 AM

Anybody who loves movies for all its manifestations will agree with the article consciously or sub consciously....

And for those who say that Sanjay Gupta is doing them a favor by getting international cinema in indian form then all that has to be said to them is that the least Sanjay Gupta could do was to give due credit to the Korean film maker. To say that he has written and directed it himself is nothing short of blatant plagiarism

Atleast for some reasons, I am bound to agree with you.

Zinda is definitely a tarantino style of film. I havent watched oldboy though. But some of my friends love it and nothing can be done about it Mr.Sen. The world is full of all kinds of people and the director is hoping there is enough of the other kind to get him some money.

I agree with Rajah. When you copy a movie, whole industry has to take the blame of being plagiarisers. Why can't we make out own movies. Even the latest movie which is called EK AJNABEE was inspired by Denzel Washington, MAN OF FIRE. Every sequence was stolen. This is pathetic. But I also beleieve that at the end of the day, public should get entertainment for what they come for. Mind you, not the entertainment like David Dhawans movie, which is stupidity. He Shadi No 1 was shame to everyone.

Mr. Raja Sen, I applaud all you have said in terms of lack of originality in Hindi films. Boycotting remakes is the first step people like you and myself can take to prevent the spread of this sick trend which is leading to the death of Indian cinema. I join your cause to promote the turning of the tides to ensure Indian movies are actually Indian. I too have written several editorials about my dislike for films such as Black, Salaam Namaste, Hum Tum...the list is endless. I would much rather take a mediocre film such as Paheli aur Mangal Pandey over the so called "master-pieces" which get rave reviews. Once again, thank you for spreading this very important message. It needs to be available to all the people who are applaed by the fact that most Indian movies at some level, are not even original. Thank you once again and good luck.

Stop being stupid Mr. Raja
by jai on Jan 21, 2006 10:50 AM

If you dont watch then dont comment.
Its rightly said for you "Are you gonna bark all day, little doggy, or are you gonna bite?"

"Can every India see the Korean movie Oldboy?"
So whats wrong if it is remade in language where you have world 2nd largest population.
I think he sanjay Gupta Invested and become part of delivering something which most of Indias can not see(Korean movie).
Thank him Mr. Raj for giving us good movie in our own language.
Critics is good but too much of anything is bad.
Regards,
Jai

Maybe Rediff and Raja Sen should report this to the producers of Oldboy and let them decide whether they want to take any action.

He is not popularising a product
by Arun on Jan 21, 2006 10:05 AM

He is not popularising a product. He is simply copying it and not even saying that. He is acting cheap. We are known to be the "Copy Masters of the World" with 0 originality. We just don't have the mindset to be original and people like you find it so good to be like that.

Bollywood booooooo
by olamush on Jan 21, 2006 08:48 AM

This movie is a scene to scene, word to word copy of Oldboy, I can say that from the trailers I see, even the number of years that this guy gets shafted in this shack is 14 years, same as Oldboy. Oldboy was such a fantastic movie, I was left astonished and wide-eyed for over 2 days, scenes playing in my head over n over. Stop copying movies, bollywood is such a shame for our country especially with all the bollywood ballwashing I see on the TV here in the US. People bollywood is not India, bollywood is its own la-la land, nothing genuine or true about it.

I agree!!!
by Shyam on Jan 21, 2006 07:35 AM

Dude,
I fully agree with you...Sanjay Gupta's movies are really slick and credit to him for that but none of his movies are original and it is such a pain watching him just "copy and paste" the original movie, change dialogues in Hindi and put his name in Credit! But I wouldnt just single him out alone because which director, other than selected 2 or 3, currently is making any original movie?????
