my heart goes out to debojit

I belong to Assam and am voting for debojit. I dont agree to the format of the show and do not agree that performance in music can be decided by popular choice. But since the organisers' have decided it then why not?
I am not competent to judge on the quality of the singers, but so are most others voting for the show, whether for debojit or for somebody else. But even I can say that Vinit someday may become a good singer, even the "voice of india", but not today, when his voice still has the adoloscent crack and will take some more years to mature.
Behaviours of Adarsh and Himesh is shameful and more so because they are not faceless charecters like me and my fellow voters; They are public faces, who aspire that people will admire them. With the ugly side of their charecters thrown open to the public, they never in their life can hope to be national figures any more.

How much vote other contestants got from different regions were never revealed ..though debojit was always at the top. But it is the love of Gajendra Sing on the popularity of his show in Assam ,that he always mentioned the % votes debojit got from Assam. Obviously it was a noticeable amount because may be other states were sleeping or to lazy to vote for any contestant.
Only in the Final3 round it was found that the votes from different regions were geting announced. Here also you see, each participant was getting majority of vote from home land or home region only.

Now a section of people are getting weird with Debojit and his votes.
What shall we term this section of people..fans of vinit or fanatics of music??

great marketing
by Uttaran on Feb 22, 2006 07:44 PM

Whoever made this show, really knows how to market insipid stuff and mint money from it! He manufactured a dispute by deliberate unfair treatment meted out to one participant, and everyone in the nation is falling for it. U c notorious is a kind of famous. ;-)
Never mind rationale, I must however agree the debate has really heated up and I can't resist either:

1stly, Debojit is from Assam, just one of the seven states in NE. This is the height of negligence of a region when people from rest of the nation think NE as the same as any state in this region. I bet these people won't be able to even name the seven states in NE. They should first learn a little about India's geography, before demanding a "winner from india".

2ndly, this show is not at all about musical talent at all. A show like the good old 'Meri Awaaz Suno' actually showcased talent. This show's all about crass hype and abhorrent ruckus. Honestly (no hard feelings) speaking, neither of Debojit or Vinit have playback calibre yet, even marginally; Debojit needs to work on his accent and confidence. Vinit needs to wait till his voice matures a bit, if hopefully it does mature (for till now its that of street singer)

Kudos to Mr. Peri
by Pratibha on Feb 21, 2006 05:12 PM

Where appealing is concerned all the contestants and their families have competed to sway public votes in their favor so why is Debojit only singled out? Most contestants have appealed to their communities for regional voting so what's the deal here! And the rules of the game is public voting and multiple voting...so Debojit is not playing anything against the rules-he is winning by the rules fairly and squarely.ZEE channel has made the rules of this competition so as to make maximum profits via sms voting and performance for their own commercial gains. The contestants are only going by the rules,so if one contestant is winning fairly please dont make him the bad guy and single him out and harass him for winning. And it was very immatured of the other three to walk out of the show .And shame on the poor geography-Assam is just one of the seven states of the entire northeast. And all that nonsense suggesting ULFA backing debojit up please be aware by now that ULFA doesn't support, promote Hindi music in Assam at all.Kudos to Mr. Peri for taking such an unbiased and objective view on this.We need more rational, intelligent writers like him to shed light on matters of such radical nonsense.

I think Adesh Shrivastav has gone insame.
If Debojit is getting support from North-east, whats the problem in that. Is that not part of India.
We are united India. All states formal an integral part of this unified front. Then why create this division in people's mind. People living in North-east or where-ever across India are Indians and there voice or support is certainly to be considered India's choice. It is people like Adesh and Himesh who have created the doubt in the minority community that they are not part of the whole (India). This has sparked in minority to form a unified force to oust their contestant. So it is all their wrong doing. They have shamed themselves, their families and every Indian by highlighing this point.
And just wondering, where was Rajiv from Adesh gharana gettng his votes earlier

Unbiased and objective Mr. Peri
by Rajlakshmi on Feb 21, 2006 12:50 PM

People of all communities help their own communities whether in respect of
careers or getting settled abroad or whatever field....even if u go abroad in countries like US , Germany etc you will see Indians
regarded with suspicion in any field but encouragement is there for the 'locals'....so what is this about 'assamese or northeast ' being singled out by some unsrupulous bigots......this is the essence of any community...it is an inborn and an universal feeling of any community....Bigots - please dont blow off statements like that cos then you are projecting your own immaturity and ignorance in this manner !!!!! Very unbiased and objective of Mr. Peri to put things in perspective !!
