not a good film
by chetna on Aug 13, 2006 01:30 PM

i dont underdstand why did karan take a heroin like rani mukherji ehy not kajol, she is very ordinary looking and dosent match the style and personality of shahrukhkhan at all. priety zinta is totally wasted and poor abhishek who has acted well got very littlerole to play in this movie.

negatives points od kank

1, poor songs not as good as k3g,kkht or the very lovely khnh
2. the director was busy narrating the story instead of the visual scenes of the movie
2.i was really shocked that there were no gripping scenes no commedy moments no great romantic scenes in the movie the movies was only such theat when will shahrukh tell priesty that he likes rabi and that he will leave her and dissolve the marriage.i dont undersand that where is the beauty in the movie rani looks awfull very very simple not at all beautiul, songs are very very [poor, shankar ehsaan have done avery mediocre job. i had watched all his movies many times but i cnnot see this movie again.

I perfectly agree with most of your comments.. People wanted something more than the usual stuff and tey got it, Now, this is good for hims as a direcer, for some people are crticiszing for the very thing that they showed lacked in his movies.. people criticze u anyways.. so, I'd say that an odd criticisem here there should not deter Karan from making movies that come staright from his heart .. Abhisshek was the best.. and U ar right he should have been given a bigger part.. But, if not now now onwards, the man is growing beautifully, we love him for his natural charmm. which is so rare.

It was manipulated article
by prakash on Aug 13, 2006 01:19 PM

After negative view of 2 well-repected reviewer of rediff...was thre any need of special-maska article?

It was nothing but an article to keep some section happy.

Or was it a new way or earning money?

regards
Praksh

Looks like Indian cinema is coming out of ages in the true sense of the word.A director like Karan Johar, who is a self confessed fan of all the potboilers like Sholay,Deewar,Don etc.,making such contemporary film on such a subject which is there but not there,is simply delight to watch. If not this may be his next venture might earn him an Oscar nomination.

Sudeshna Shyam
Abhishek Bachchan
by Sudeshna Shyam on Aug 13, 2006 01:07 PM

I had heard that due to the tension built between Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan because Ram Gopal Verma's films, Shahrukh had tried to shorten Abhishek Bachchan's role in KANK. Anyways I'm happy that Abhishek has proved his calibre in whatever he did. However, tho' Rani makes the best pair with Abhi
she looks a bit too old in this film. Amitabh's characterisation could have been made more interesting knowing the extraordinary talent that he possesses.

Mr. reviewer..I havent seen the movie yet and have no plans to see one more Karan Johar melodrama..
But one thing comes to my mind..why Karan Johar has picturised movie in New York for such a topic? It could have been done in any city in India...

KANK: A bad film
by Joy Sengupta on Aug 13, 2006 12:54 PM

What can you expect more from Karan Johar? Everytime he does the same thing. He tries to make a simple and forgetful story into a huge hankerchief drama stuffed with top stars and foreign locals.

Please, he should understand that that the 'public' has now become even more wise. We also do have some grey matter ya!!!

He has yet again made a same kind of a film. It might click as it has got Shahrukh Khan, Rani, Pirety, Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan. But then it is high time for the director to stop fooling people and make good films.

Omkara might be a good example for him to learn the real art.

An attempt to undo the damage?
by NK on Aug 13, 2006 12:44 PM

This seems to be an attempt to undo the damage done by Raja Sen's review. Well truth does not change by a better review. Bad is bad.
