KANK i think should be nominated for indian golden rassbery award(RAZZIE AWARD)
by on Sep 23, 2007 06:33 PM

KANK i think should be nominated in INDIAN GOLDEN RASSBERRY AWARD(RAZZIE AWARD) for all category execept songs. STORY PLOT IS SO PATHETIC,SUCH STORY WE HAVE SEEN MANY TIMES.THERE IS ALOS PROBLEM WITH JOHAR,THAT HE ALWAYS TAKE SRK AND RANI AND ALL THOSE SOCALLED BACHCHAN,(ABHISHEK) WHO LACKS IN EXPRESSION.THERE IS A SIMILARITY BETWEEN KARAN AND EKTA KAPOOR,KARANS FILM ALWAYS START FROM "K", SAME AS EKTA.EKTA MAKES PEOPLE CRY,KARAN MAKES THE AUDIENCES CRY.I THINK THIS FILM DESERVES TO GET 0 STARS.

KANK-totally disagree with you.
by Nethra on Dec 15, 2006 04:03 PM  | Hide replies

kank is a mirror of thousands of lives that we dont understand or find hard to digest,it is infact astonishing that a guy like karan johar who exalts indian traditions has directed it.what happens if one hopes to fall in love with their spouse, gets married and just doesnt-is that a mistake to try to work out, compromise and hope that things would get better eventually?for some, yes and for others,no.but i dont think anyone wants to be in a lifeless marriage-be it arranged(like maya's)or love(like dev's).dev and maya had to get together in the end, thats reality.if they had decided to be do-gooders and sacrifice their love, then it would have been a routine indian film where good wins over bad and they become the shining beacons of our society.also karan has stated that if he had to continue the story, dev and maya wouldnt have been the happiest couple cos of the emotional baggage they carried around.kank is his best movie to date though it has its share of exaggerations.it is his personal observations that he has recorded, you dont have to accept them, but if you cant respect them then you lose the right to review them.hope you appreciate my input, nethra.

Karan should have got this film directed by a MATURE DIRECTOR
by Jai on Sep 17, 2006 01:00 PM

Thanks to all the controversies that KANK had manged to generate, I did see the movie on its last lap as it were. For all the bravos that karan deserves for focusing on traumatic marriages, I still believe that has failed to present the emotional nuances correctly, perhaps a more mature director would have done a better job. All the characters seem so unreal at times. karan seems to have got all the concepts right like a failed father trying to force his own goals on the child. But then he has no idea how it happens in real life. My final advice to Karan. Stay off from comedy

KANK got the right results
by srishtireddy on Sep 07, 2006 05:34 AM

At first I was outraged at the whole story and the concept of KANK.Then I got thinking really hard why and really why would the director choose such an obvious anti- indian values movie. It is glaringly obvious to me now that he has used the most intelligent trick in the book.He simply chose a concept which would have most people opposing it and the other remaining losers(in married lives atleast) relating to the characters. That's how it got the publicity and thus the much wanted collections and thus over half of the indian population discussing it repeatedly. Its hard for me not to admire the intelligence of the director and the script writer at this point.Although it is really hilarious to listen to some people go on and on about how it is so close to the reality.Guys get a life!! Its a godamn movie for crying out loud.If anything please dont feel proud relating to the loser characters in the movie instead its ok to a certain extent to relate to the abhishek, preiti characters. Now I really dont want to get started on the lecture so I will end it at that. Bravo Karan and Shibani.

kank is sickening
by faisal on Sep 06, 2006 03:54 PM

atching kank was a real pain in the neck ,i am really amazed how could such a horrible movie which lacks a script, acting ,direction and heart earn so much money perhaps its about marketing.
after boom amitabh apologised to his fans but i believe that after kank he should tender an even greater apology for such a cheap sort of role.
the worstv part was that nobody(including abhishek) was convincing ,the music was a real let down from shankar ,ehsaan ,loy(largely borrowed from khnh).
aftere this film karan johar should take a crash course from ramu, vishal bhardwaj, farhan akhtar or any other director whom he may find

I whole heartedly agree with Aseem Chabra
by RF on Aug 31, 2006 11:37 PM

Until I read this, I was beginning to think people are really blind that they cannot see what a badly made movie KANK is. KJ doesn't have the class to handle such a subject so he should stay away. There have been better movies made by many directors (one of them was Yash Chopra's silsila) on the same subject. I never have high expectations of a KJ movie but I enjoy them for the family drama that they are. But thsi time around i was thoroughly disappointed. My take on the actors, SRK should stop acting in movies and go become a host in a TV serial. He has become very cliched. Rani was wasted in the movie. She is a very good performer in the right movie. Priety Zinta should start eating a little bit. In an effort to become a size 2, she does not concentrate on acting. Abhishek Bachchan, well he was the only saving grace of the movie.

Good Concept BUT Poor Execution
by Hari A on Aug 29, 2006 01:39 PM

I completely agree with Aseem Chabbra's views, as to why does SRK & RANI have to get involved in an adulterous affair, when both had their own shortcomings in their marital lives. And especially when Preity & Abhishek were going all-out to make their marriage work.
The concept of married people entering into relationships outside marriage was good one but the Karan Johar made a total mess of it by showing two failed people trying to justify their actions in the end. I think Preity Zinta's last dialogue to Rani rightly summed it up all - 'There is no need to repent now, the actual repentence will start when u get married & start living with SRK, b'coz I know what is life staying with him'.

not again?

After watching the award-winning, lyrical, and utterly captivating Capote and Antonia's Line, I saw SKANK...sorry...KANK. Fer GAWD's SAKE! A half baked plot with no justification for its many senseless events, or the multitude of idiotic characters. KANK's main perpetrator KANK Johar only wanted one thing--that SRK and Rani's characters be thrown together somehow. For this to happen, he willingly sacrificed narrative, common sense, and his undeveloped characters. Amitabh Bacchan and Kiron Kher were totally vestigial to the story. A stunning Rani could not cover the bleached bones of the storyline with any amount of glycerine. And SRK proved that he is, beyond redemption, an embarassment to the entire nation. He gives "ham" a new meaning. Preity Zinta had a blink-and-miss role while AB was tolerable yet not totally convincing. I was embarrased to watch this regressive, senseless and pathetic attempt at making a "grown-up" movie. Complex relationships and real (vs. "reel") human emotions are clearly not Johar's forte. He should stick to what he does best---making fluffy pink crapola that involves his "GOD" SRK in various teen-bopper roles.
