Why did this dude make the movie? OK, it's reasonably well made and the songs are good, who cares if they are copied, I enjoyed them and even spent Rs 145 on the CD. Nonetheless, the overall feeling one got was waste, a waste of effort and time in making this stupid story well. Anyways, what can one expect of the Bhats. One more thing that's copied,is the last scene, which is straight out of Gladiator!
Good movie, great acting by all, especially Shiney. Kangana should get a voice-over. The pivotal scene at Embassy should have been done better...they made it seem like the thug is a saint and the cops are crooks. What's next...a movie glorifying the underworld and brickbats for the cops for putting them behind bars? Please.

There is no doubt whatsoever that "Gangster-A Love Story" will be one of the best Hindi movies to be released this year in 2006 ! The credit for the same goes to the fine direction by Anurag Basu, who never lets the narrative drag and the fine acting eprformances by all three protagonists. The superb cinematography and background shots of Seoul(quite a novelty that one!) and the catchy , "different" music by Pritam further bolster its credentials, as does the fact that the film is only two hours long. The director manages to convey his story beautiully in two hours itself, without any wastage of scenes / songs / dialogues, etc. Coming to the acting, the eally standout performance is that of the debutante teenager, Kangana Ranaut, who portrays the complex role of a women rapped between two lovers incredibly well. She is ably supported by Shiney Ahuja as "the Gangster", as well as Emraan Hashmi, who for a change underplays his role of a loverboy and comes across rather well (vis-a-vis his over-the-top performances). But above all the real strength of the movie is its central theme of love, betrayal and the underworld. It is actually grim movie, full of pathos and forces one to think
