There is a limit to politicizing things... first our comedian Saif Ali Khan get's the National award for best actor beating evry other geniuine talents, now Paheli (nothing but an Adult Chandamama story) is nominated for Oscars... What is more surprising is that there is never an explanation as to what is the criteria for such a nomination... I know it is simply incomparible but for the sake of it, How can Paheli even stand a chance with a movie like Black' in the list?? Lagaan,Shwaas were truly worthy of that! It is a shame that movies like Devdaas or Paheli's are making it's way & this is possible only by one gud thing all these ppl know- POLITCS
The Indian selectors for the Oscar nominations never seem to learn from their mistakes. Even now they haven't realised that these 3- hours long song and dance routine never wins at the oscars. The Excellent choice for this year should have been a beautiful movie called "Black"- a movie with Indian emotional overtones subtly wounded over a relatively westernised picturisation. The lenght of the movie was also just about accurate for a sure- short Oscar.
The one word that comes to my mind after seeing this news is ......... HORRIBLE !!!
I am an ardent Hindi Movie watcher and have watched most of the Hindi Movies in contention. To my greatest of dreams I (and I presume most of the Indians) cannot imagine any movie other than 'Black' to be send for Oscar Nominations. It is one of the best movies that Indian Film Industry has ever produced. I really doubt the knowledge of the selectors who have nominated 'Paheli'.
