Finally someone had the guts to make a movie on one of the most serious issue plaguing the country. The movie makes us think...think a lot..so won't be surprised if some people find it annoying!Strictly for serious viewing..I saw a couple of reviewers like Taran Adarsh [ who thinks KalHoNahois da best movie eva!!! :( ]trashing this movie. But if there is any sensible movie that is made in the recent times, undoubtely Dev is among them...
Dev is all about what it feels to be among a riot, with point of views of different people.
Govind Nihlani has covered everybody from a political selfish leader, a honest leader, a common man, a cruel police inspector & a positive, humble & kind ploice inspector and also people related to them.
Three Cheers for all the performances, especially to Mr. Bachchan. Also the cinematography was too good.
An insight into the trauma of the common man plagued by the manifestations of the power hungry politicians. The exchanges between AB and Om Puri over a glass of malt are a viewers delight.
i dont think i am going to read Rediff reviews again....
the reviewer has no reasons for criticising the movie...he does it for the sake of putting down the movie..
indeed sad that when people like Govind Nihalani take up meaningful subjects...and make sensible films... their movies are put down by senseless critics....
i would urge all viewers...DEV IS A MUST-SEE...
wonderful performances and good direction...it is better than all the crap that comes out nowadays..
What is really, really heartening is the number of you folks on the messageboard that have liked Dev. I was left with a bad feeling in my stomach after I saw the movie. Not because it was bad, but because I remembered the rediff review & was left wondering how any reviewer could write such a peice, and that too under the head 'what's the fuss all about?'. Dev is gripping, real & an edge of the seat thriller for people who really care about this issue facing india today. The biggest achievement of Mr.Nihalani according to me, is that he says exactly what he feels about both communities, which is almost inflammatory, but manages to not arouse ugly passions. This one thing is enough to tell us what a master craftsman Mr.Nihalani is. And finally, the kiss was not meant to bring out the 'chemistry between kareena & fardeen', Mr.Reviewer.It was nothing like anything I have seen on Hindi Screens till date. The kiss was used by Mr.Nihalani as a primal gesture of insecurity, fear & restlessness coupled with a need for support & love. Hope such idiotic reviews dont discourage more intelligent offerings from bollywood. That would be a real tragedy.
Though I have not seen the film yet the way the review written was not a review. Rather the reviewer had written some negative notes. Please try to get better people communicate in a better way. I have heard good things about the movie from the people who have seen it.
After watching Dev last Friday my husband and I have been discussing this movie the whole weekend. That is the impact it left on us. I think the director has very well brought out the two schools of thought among us Indians. One school that brands the whole community against the action carried out by a handful of people from that community that performs the act and the other school that gives the benefit of doubt and does not believe that the whole community is responsible. (Unfortunately the proportions of people who think this way are not many as yet). This movie makes one think and also question oneself of our thoughts and beliefs. I think many of the viewers have written better reviews than the rediff critics. Good luck you guys if you want to still maintain this site.
Out of 50 comments abt 45 readers are in total disagreement with this review. Dear friends, I bet reviewer will say that Ardhsatya, the BAAP of all COP movies is a C grade movie. What this review want to see??? A Item-number, larger than life hero? There is little intresting fact that worth a mention. In Zanzeer AB palyed the role of Cop and and movie is still the one-of-best movie of AB and it was one of foundation stone of AB carear as "Angry Young Man". Govind Nihalani, director of DEV, directed first movie where COP as a human was subject and in that movie same Ompuri was the COP. That film even today is unparalled and that film also helped both Govind and Ompuri. And now these "3" cops coming togehter. Quite Intresting
