Rain coat : More Beautiful than I EverAnticipated
by rajivupadhyay on Dec 25, 2004 01:04 PM

I was expecting to see a good Bengali influenced movie but It turned out to be a master piece even better than master love story teller Yash Chopra's Silsila Or Raj Kapoor. Ghosh has a touch of Satyajit Ray . I wish him well for future.

Saw "Rain coat"in an almost empty theatre on the first day last show.A poignant film, directed with great sensitivity and stunning performances from Ajay Devgan and Aishwairya Rai is a must see for all discerning viewers of Hindi Cinema.Touching poetry and soul searing music make this film an unforgettable experience.

The raincoat speaks more than the chhataas

Yes, an unique belnd of defeat, pride and pain, Ravicoat scores over the new age movies that have been released in recent days. The plain story line accompanied by powerful performances both by Rai and Devgan, exquisite editing, soulstirring backkground score and above all the acrhitect off the movie all have done a commendable job.

I was no great task to wreck up O Henry's classic, but Rituparno Ghpshh hhas delivered more than his words could have penned.

Great Job, Ghosh. Waiting ffor more such prroojects from your kitty.

Boring movie
by Akanksha on Dec 25, 2004 08:40 AM  | Hide replies

Usually I dont watch arty movies but was drawn to watch the movie for Ajay Devgan and Aiswarya Rai.
But Personally I found the movie too confusing and the end was just hopeless.
I have decided never to try these arty movies as it may be for super inteligent guys or namesake people and not for ordinary people like us.
The entire theatre crowd also found disgusting and just plain rubbish.

Dear Akankhya,
I pity on you for not enjoying a brilliant film making by Ritupurna Ghosh.
Concentrate on 'Main hoon naa' and 'Musafir' kind of movies.

Kind Regards,
sandip.

You did 2 mistakes Akanksha, firstly when you turned up for the movie and secondly, when you decided to write this review. If you hadn't turned up to watch the movie, because, as you said, you are not a art movie type, you could have spared us from you tasteless review, because 99% of reviewers here don't share your view and think it's a masterpiece of a movie. So, please concentrate only on 'Musafir' and 'Rok sako to rok lo' kind of junk henceforth.

okay first of all nobody is asking you to go and watch this movie! second of all i think taran adarsh is one of the worst movie critics in the world! he have no idea what the hell he talks about...its either that or he doesnt know how to freaking review a movie! if you think raincoat is a dull and boring movie thats fine, its your opinion! if you rather go watch bluffmaster, main hoon na go ahead watch those crappy movies and spend your money. and third of all you have the worst taste in movies!
