A Masterpiece!
by Arindam Banerjee. on Dec 26, 2004 12:09 AM

RAINCOAT is simply brilliant even outclassing the original O. Henry's short story. This is undoubtedly Aishwarya Rai's best permormance till date. She shows her true potential in this deglamourised role and tries her best to match steps with the legends like Shabana Azmi and Late Smita Patil. Ajay Devgan once again can claim a nomination for the best actor National Award. The supporting cast was excellent. RAINCOAT is another feather in Rituparno Ghosh's already crowded cap.

Playing a Game in one chamber

Struck me as so poignant, so pure. It makes one believe in love - a word which flagrantly looses meaning with each passing day in its trivialization in Bollywood films which have succeeded in making us forget the romance of Krishna-Radha.Ghosh captures it for us with a story which is not at all confusing or complicated but has just a one or two twists in breaks. He captures moments when his characters or his players lie and love, and through it he makes us realize the possibilities that our hearts hold for us.

its a classic play than a modren movie
by Suresh on Dec 25, 2004 10:54 PM

raincoat is a classic piece of drama than a movie which has around 10 actors among which 80% of the role is of hero & heroin most of the film is with in four walls, wherein only actors expressions dominate, Aishwarya lived in that role & so is Ajaydevagan. This movie is a taste treat for the art lovers, many thanks to Rituprano ghosh.

Ash and Ajay in their best acting skills
by KINJAL SATHWARA on Dec 25, 2004 02:04 PM

Raincoat is one of the best movies along with Swades released this year that exhibit exemplary skills of real life drama.
Both directors have surpassed all the typical trends and skillfully shown how you can move up mass minds.

Aishwarya gives her career's best performance with Ajay Devgan shown a non winning hero of real life.
Hats off to Rituparno ghosh for showing how good movies can be made.

Raincoat Is Wonderful
by Pearl on Dec 25, 2004 01:16 PM

Whenwe enetered thetheatre for the evening show itis only half full, on thevery first day .But thatdid not let are spirits go low.
We understoos that thefilm is not for massess but for classes
Raincoat is just a beautiful simple story of two people inlove who can neverbe together but still have so much feeling for each other.

Theactors are superb. In my opinion this is Aishwaryas best performance ever. I wish she concentrates more onthesekind of roles rather than Brideand Prejudice kind of flicks. She is simply amazinf in the movie.
AjayDevgan is so natural you dont feel for a moment that he is actually acting in the movie but you feel he is the poor genuine Mannu heplays.

Rituparno Ghosh deserves a big pat on his back for bringing out the best from the actors especially Ash.
