The Movie has got an Artistic value which can be better appreciated by multiple viewing.Excellent performance by both Ajay Devgan and Aish'a Rai as well as great direction. One will like the movie if one see it once but if one sees it again, then only one'll understand the real beauty of the movie.

Raincoat - good movie limited actors
by badra bidesi on Nov 20, 2005 11:19 AM

what a wonderful movie, great script, editing, photography and excellent music. Inspiring camera work reminiscent of "twelve angry men", great lighting reminiscent of "citizen Kane" - very limited emoting by aishwariya and devgan - compare liz taylor in " who is afraid of virginia wolf" and dustin hoffman in "death of a salesman"
tabbu and manoj vajpai would have been ideal for these slots.
By the way ANNU KAPOOR - you lived the role... Kudos, sab ko kha gaye yaar
Rituparno Ghosh - aur bhi actress hain zamane mein - hysterionic aishwarya ke sivaa...

I love the movie, I just thought that the ending could have used a little more detail. It really left me with the hope that he would rescue her in the in end, but it was all together a very wonderfully made movie.

Simply awesome

Simple story, powerful performances...Raincoat is truly a delight. Came across such a sensitive and well-made film after ages. I am not an Ash fan, but she has outdone herself in this film. Devgan, as always, is flawless. "Raincoat" ..may your tribe increase !

Ragini
Beautifully adapted

Let it be said that of all who give gifts, these two were the wisest", wrote O. Henry in his classic story The Gift of Magi. And after seeing Rituparno Ghosh's Raincoat, he definitely would have been impressed. For Raincoat is "a chronicle of two foolish children in a flat who most unwisely sacrificed for each other, their greatest treasures.

Deepak Nair
very good movie
by Deepak Nair on Jan 19, 2005 01:46 AM

This is a very good movie. With the exception of Swades and Hulchul to some extent, most of the recent movies have been Hollywood "inspired" or plain silly. This one has a n original story line, very good acting, and haunting music.everybody has done a good job, and it is a nice serious movie.
