Deepak Nair
very good movie
by Deepak Nair on Jan 19, 2005 01:46 AM

This is a very good movie. With the exception of Swades and Hulchul to some extent, most of the recent movies have been Hollywood "inspired" or plain silly. This one has a n original story line, very good acting, and haunting music.everybody has done a good job, and it is a nice serious movie.

lovely movie, with classical acting. Only thing it is different and you should pay attention to dialogue and understand the underlying play and pshcological battle being played out between the two actors.Goodshow

Joseph Thomas
Annu Kapoor was the best in Rain Coat
by Joseph Thomas on Jan 18, 2005 05:11 PM

I do not understand how you could not mention the performance of Annu Kapoor. The story really turns out in the presence of Annu Kapoor, not even by the "Rain Coat". And he did a great job. His performance was far better than Ajay's. If someone asks me what was the best scene in that movie, I would say that it was the scene Annu Kapoor answering Ajay Devgan with his hands on the round table, in a rhythmic tone.

I have to admit that after a number of reviews your reviewer finally got it right. Excellent moive indeed, inspired by one of the short stories we read in school (by O Henry). Ajay Devgan was wonderful as usual, but what was most surprising was the performance from the former Miss World ( though she hardly looked a shadow of that throughout the movie). She was really good, could not have done better. Cameos from other actors are worthy of praise too. The background score was great too. The pace of the movie was a bit slow but i guess even that was intriguing. After watching the movie there was one thought in my mind ..... I should watch Choker Bali!

Raincoat can be compared with a beautiful painting without much thought.

Ajay Devgan is superb and seemed to have got into the character. Aishwaria seemed too beautiful for such a role but tried much to come up.

The other actors(only five were there) tried to make up their good work but the plot failed. The film was too slow and the audience kept waiting for Rituporno's trademark genious to come up.

The person who had started with films Hirer Angti, Dahan, Utsav and Bariwali was totally out pace. The subtle aspect shown by Rituporno while potraying human relationships was completely lost. Even Ritu still might not be comfortable with the language hindi.

But Ritu we will wait, coz we know ur a geniuos.

Form is temporary but class is permanent. Isnt it??
