I love the story, chacracter and great performance from Ajay, Ash, Mouli and Annu Kappor. Nice fim I can not forget the music, as it it relieves from desires of possession of love.
The movie was an absolute drag. A small anecdote stretched into a long drawn movie. Having seen Choker Bali I was eager to see Rituparno Ghosh's cinematic technique. Had liked his frame compositions, but this movie sorely disappoints on that count as well. the desire to be `real' has made them use too many cliches. Like the bra straps shown very obviously thru out the film to depict her disinterest in appearance.
Truly agree with the review.A wonderfully done movie where the director has really paid attention to the characters.Rituparno Ghosh's first movie in bolly is all class.A wonderful break from typical all's fine bolly romances.Ajay & annu are stunning.Ash is good.
Rainncoat is undoubtedly a winner.Dont go by the B.O collections. Commendable direction, restrained yet matured &excellent performances by Ajay & Ash.This movie is undoubtedly "The Best of this Year" with its excellent music. This movie also displays Mouli Ganguly's underrated performance.Well Done Rituparno.
This is one of the most fitting reviews I've ever read. Sukanya Verma has brought out all that's best in this movie and penned them using the most beautiful words. This is no way a commercial movie, more in the 'Documentary' or 'Art movie' genre. It's quite slow paced and you'll find some dialogues stretched and unnecessary. When the movie ended after 2 hours, I wondered if it could well have been packed within half the length, it really is so short a story! Aish and Ajay Devgan both proved how powerful actors they both are. The only song in the movie will long linger in your ears, because it's so beautiful. The direction, photography are both top class.
Raincoat is what any movie should be like! But it is extremely sad that brainless films like VeerZaara (not insulting Shah Rukh Khan) and craps like Julie survive and Lakshya and Raincoat fail. The problem is with us and not with the makers!
Call me a non-intellectual boor but I hated the movie. Highly depressing rendition...perhaps it would have been better as a play. I don't think high pathos and dreary backgrounds are a sure formula for deep art
The movie was a classic. I havnt seen such a beautiful movie in a lot of time. God knows whether such beautiful relationships exist in real life but the actors and director have delivered their best to bring out the intimate feelings that grow only in your heart, that words cant describe. -- atreyee
