Good Job!

Comeon Shilpa...When anyone tries such an attempt, he/she truly deserves accolades. Revathy ..good direction..Shilpa - never ever have I seen u in such a good role, all i remember u as a heroine is a jhatka matka (up bihar girl) but this was worth your effort..Too good, keep it up..abhishek was funny at times, this guy is really improving day by day...carry on junior bacchan! However..Sallu was over as usual..what has happened to his voice...its so different now! I try my best to like his acting but fail all the time!!!
such a late response here, as recently saw the movie...But overall a must watch!!!

Make this movie tax free in India

A very sensitive subject in the country where sex is just a titllation or a taboo subject. To talk about being HIV+ in those conditions, is a rare and bold attempt without preaching. Movies are the best source of spreading the message in India and I really appreciate Revathy's attempt and due diligence in getting the terms very clear.
When we can remember films like Anand, Mili or others about Cancer, why can't we see a movie on someone getting a disease where he/she knows that the death will come, is always afraid, and still wants to live the life and do things. Its great that revathy showed two sides - one life with HIV+ and another, a death with AIDS. Also, showing the message that when HIV+ person has a high viral load, there is more danger to the partner in getting the virus (not sure exactly of medical facts here.).
About performances - all were great, som scenes stand out in the movie like Shilpa's learning of the disease and being in shock...rarely one has seen that aspect (funny that some people call it being slow); Shilpa meeting Salman - anger turning into pity and realization of her own condition. Think of urself or someone U love in that condition and ur reaction.

Fascinating!
by Haris on Sep 23, 2004 10:06 PM

y'know, there r 3 kinda "good" movies:

one would be like what u watch, enjoy & get done and over with...apparently u forget these kinda movies & move on in life...unless u're reminded of it by a sequel or a similar attempt.

Second would be the kinda movie that u feel more than satisfied with...probably rave about it every now and then!

The third kinda movie is the one that would get yer feelings mesmerized & possibly make u ponder at times...the kinda movie which, after watching, you always remember & cherish the feelings u had gone thru while u were "flowing with" the movie. The third category-the best of 'em all-"PHIR MILENGE"...awh Revathay; u've more than earned it!!!

Awh I was so mesmerized with it all, I felt myself in a completely strange & uncanny world...all of us living here...gosh people...is life really just so inexplicable!?!

Peace!

The film n the efforts put in by the whole team r really commendable.everybody should see the movie.in ur review u've mentioned it wrongly that shilpa has AIDS.instead she is HIV+.the film very clearly differentiates the two.

well....
by Nandini on Sep 18, 2004 02:47 PM

its a stupid situation....no one can come out and say that it was a sadly made film more than a sad film....just becaes the film dared to be different and was about AIDS...it becomes a great film...who cares how bad the performances were....
sensitively acted....puhleeez...
and it seems salman did the film beacuse he is ravathy's great pal...etc etcv....if he was feeling so affectionate towards revathy...wish he had given her a puppy or chocolates....rather than to agree to do the film....
the only decent performance was from shilpa shetty's sister....who also needs to do soimething about her voice....how shrill are you allowed to be on screen?

Phir Milenge is a real winner in the midst of all the Jhagmag films. Abhishek Bacchhan is the best part of the movie. Shilpa has done a superb job....It 's a movie to be watched...

I don't understand how Shilpa receives AIDS. Is it from Salmon. Very confusing, Indians just copy from Hollywood and will never be original. Make up your own stories Bollywood. You guys are a waste of time.

Needs to be seen

For someone who has been working with positive people it is
extremely difficult to be objective about a film like "phir milenge"

This is India's first attempt at dealing with the
issue of HIV with rare sensitivity, subtlety and honesty. It is moving,
poignant, touching and hard hitting at times. The film has right messages
( without preaching ) at the right places and deals with discrimination (
beginning with self discrimination ) without being propogandist.

It is finally the story of courage, determination and will power of a woman
who will leave no stone unturned to get justice and go on with life as for her
life is lot more than being HIV+.

It has some amazing performances from the entire lead cast and specially
Shilpa Shetty ( whoever thought that she'd deliver such a knock out
performance )

The film may have some flaws in scripting but it really did not matter. I
could not stop my tears as it became very difficult for
me to detach personal feelings from what i was watching on screen and like i
said earlier it is extremely difficult for me to be objective about the
film.

A movie that needs to be seen.
