How can one compare actors who are operating in completely different markets in completely different conditions??
The list could have better been called most popular actors as sukrit vijaykar and gowri shenbag raman have observed correctly. And i concur with them.
I remember one BBC website once hosted a poll called Star of the millennium which was given to AB. Now, another media in the same country ranks him at 92. What's going on? Opinions can contrast, not polls!
That country is confused. We are not. As far as we are concerned, AB is #1 to #10, as Anil Kapoor once said. For us, there will be no one bigger than AB. My regards to actors like Kamal Hassan, Sanjeev Kumar and Aamir Khan. They are on their way to being legends. It would not be fair to compare them with a man aged 60+ who has held the nation spellbound with each performance of his'. The best part is we are still able to see him refine and perform according to his age.
Regional comparisons like Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, NTR, Soumitra, Dr.Rajkumar etc. are valid, but they never faced the national competition.
do not bring regional comparisons!!!! sivaji is any day the greatest actor in the world sheerly for his acting skills. it's a sorry state of affairs that people like u dont understand that "acting has no language" the biasness to hindi film stars still continues.
For ur information, amitabh himself fell at shivaji's feet in early 80's when he was not able to act to shivaji's potential in a hindi remake. How's that ??
Amitabh is a great actor but not the best of india that the world has seen. The Great Dilip Kumar is, has and will remain as the greatest actor to face the indian silver screen. Even Amitabh agrees with that, and to support that statement he(amitabh) himself said that there is no actor in indian cinema in the last 50 years who has not taken inspiration from Dilip sahab, and if someone says no to that than he/she is lieng. Rajendra kumar and Manoj kumar were proud of saying that they copied Dilip kumar. There are actors with shades of the Great Man like Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bacchan, Naseeruddin Shah, Om puri, Farooq Sheikh, Anil Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Sharukh Khan........ the list is endless. Decide for you self. The time Amitabh came we had new technologies coming in like Tv,Vcr,amount of money was started being put into advertisement and things like that The same goes with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
how come kamal haasan is not in the list. his acheievment is unparalled. vheck him out in his latest offering "Anbe Sivam". he will bring tears to his eyes with his acting.
The Best Actor India has produced is no more. It's none other than Sivaji Ganesan. If ask for the best Indian Actor alive, then there will be no competetion, it will be Kamalahasan all the way. All those die hard fans of other actors think rationally for a second and the truth will dawn upon you.
well i really doubt if the guys over there had a real good database and we need not react so seriously. Its only a certain opinion. But i agree with top 10 . Only hope charlie chaplin had a spot there.And also would have liked to see apart from AB; Nasir , Soumitra and Madhuri was there. If liz taylor can get a place , Madhuri also can. Are they voting glamour by the way??
