Whats wrong with adoptiong a movie or a book ?
by Kumar on Mar 04, 2003 01:13 PM

Every review that has been written on this movie
talks about the fact it has been taken from the
engish movie (which was taken from SK's novel).
But whats wrong with that ? I heard that Balu did
acknowledge it. Steven spielberg has been taking
movies from books only !! Whats wrong with that ?
If the question is was the original recognized,
I heard that he did recognize it. Not sure if it came
in the titles, because I missed the titles when I
saw the movie. But a great movie and we must acknowledge tamil cinema hasnt seen much better in
recent times.

:-)

how long are we going to see stories like this....
by Kumar on Feb 28, 2003 02:02 AM

Don't our directors / producers get tired of copying movies. I don't want to repeat the names, since its proven now.... Concept is similar to all other movies out there. It just makes us sick and tired.... I bet these people either does not have an outside knowledge at all or.... just copy movies all the time from french / spanish / english / foreign movies if they become a hit.... This should have shown up in the preview of the movie itself....Doesn't someone ask these questions to these people.... I hope one day our cine world would change... (Use their own real mind to take real good films..)

When Mani does it....When balu does it....
by maran on Feb 28, 2003 01:04 AM

Agreed that it is a copy of Misery. But Why did the audience enjoy Nayakan when it was also a copy of a much more famous movie, God Father. Kamal copied Brando and Mani copied the screen play. Kamal even won the national award. The point is that TN masses don't watch hollywood movies.

Balu has also copied Aarth in Marupadiyum and got away with it. But it is very common among Tamil Directors and even Tamil Music Diretors

Hollywood needs to sue Bollywood
by Amar on Feb 28, 2003 12:40 AM

It amazes me at how quick a certain composer from Bollywood was quick to sue a US based recording artist for ripping off his music. What if Hollywood started suing Bollywood for every film plot line it copies from Hollywood's movies???? Me thinks half of Bombay would be out of business!!!

Background Music....????
by Shanker on Feb 27, 2003 09:05 PM

Please comment responsibly about Re-recording, I feel Ilayaraja is the only music director in India who does this extremly well. There are many many films, I can quote which ran only for his background music. This is only place I found the such bad comments about the background music for this film!!!

How one yearns for some originality??
by Venkat Gopalakrishnan on Feb 27, 2003 08:12 PM

Every once in a while Indian cinema comes up with a movie from out of the ordinary, and then you realize
sooner than later that this is yet a nother case of
blatant plagarism.
This one is no different. Lifted lock, stock and barrel
from the James Caan, Kathy Bates flick Mercy.
Being inspired is one thing, but, plagarism is inexcusable. Dubbing the original would have made more sense. Atleast, you don't have to endure all the unrelated dream sequences.
