I think it would be worthwhile if either the producer/director (yeah, right...) or the reviewer gives due credit to the fact that this movie is a copy of the American movie 'Misery' (Stephen King novel starring Cathy Bates)that was made years ago!
'Misery' starring Kathy Bates/James Caan was released in 1990- Same story...Has Balu M given any credit to Stephen King for the original plot... Below is a summary of the movie - sounds familiar? "Misery" is one of those films that over-achieves. The material is not very good, the plot is somewhat thin, and most of the characters are one-dimensional. However, with that said Kathy Bates takes the material and runs with it all the way to the bank. This film made her a household name and provided her with a Best Actress Oscar in 1990. She stars as a crazed fan who cares for author James Caan after he's involved in a near-fatal auto accident in the middle of nowhere. Quickly her mood goes from cheerful to downright frightening when she learns that Caan's fictional heroine "Misery" will die in his newest novel. Caan's character is not very well developed and this somewhat stalls the film, but it really does not matter because of Bates's performance. All in all, "Misery" is one of Stephen King's novels that actually plays well on film. If Bates were taken away, I am not sure how this film would fare. Thank goodness we do not have to find out. 4 out of 5 stars
Please don't be so generous in your praises. The story line is a rip off from Stephen King's Misery which has been made into a brilliant movie (Kathy Bates won an Oscar). It should have been a cake walk for the director and all the people who were involved to remake an already perfect movie. So boo hoo and Big deal.
When will Indian movie makers adopt and develop their own stories. This is a straight out copy of a movie based on a story by Stephen King "Misery". This movie was made with Michael Caine and Kathy Bates for which she won an Oscar award. It is so pathetic that a director of Balu Mahendra calibre sinks to low levels and copies an Hollywood movie. Let's face it there are no more original story ideas in Indian movies. Every story that comes out is an copy of Hollywood movie. Join the bandwagon Baluji.
