Answer to Jagjit's and Abijeet's bigotry and complaints
by Nora on May 05, 2005 09:17 AM

I am a Pakistani American and when I read Mr. Jagjit Singh's comments about not letting Pakistani singers perform in India, I was appalled by the bigotry in him and his narrow-minded nature. Does he not know just last year, Sonu Nigam, performed in Karachi and was highly regarded as a great artist and the shows were booked? Sonu Nigam is very much liked in Pakistan. No wonder he liked Pakistani audiences so much. All the Indian artists that have come to Pakistan have appreciated the audience and have been surprised by the hospitality that they recieved. Maybe Mr. Jagjit Singh is bitter because he has never been asked to perform in Pakistan. However, is it a wonder why? Think about it Mr. Jagjit Singh and Abijeet too. Mr. Jagjit does not have to bring politics into arts and entertainment and since he is talking about the Kashmir issue, I just have to say one thing to him, every human being deserves freedom and a country of their own so, don't blame your neighbors for supporting a little thing called Civil Rights.

whoa wait just a sec? pakistanis r being childish? but the way al of you guys are talking here is childish. some immature and brainless people think that pakistanis treat indian performers bad. well wake up and turn on the t.v cause indians artists are given more respect in pakistan than they ever got in india. you should have seen how shaurav gonguly came to pakistan and was eating so much. he looked quite happy. and on tv indian actress kiron kher said herself that when she came to pakistan how well she was treated and how pakistanis are "bade-dilwale" yea and thats cause it doesnt hurt us to spend money first of all. and secondly its pakistanis who actually tolerate indians everywhere. its indians who first chew pakistanis like gum and then throw them away. bcause they will always hate. the only reason indian actors are coming to pakistan is not to spread peace. but its to mae business for their movies better. thats why that sushmita sen acts all muslimized. after all she would do that. she has a history of going to dubai lol. so i just wanna say that people need to look inside of themselves first

indians are always blaming pakistanis for everything. every terrorist is suposed t eb a pakistani. every bad guy has to be pakistani. and what about all those people dieing in kashmir? im sure we all know who does that. its time that india loses its stuborness and starts acting mature. in a way its our pakistani performers who always go to kiss indias,, thats because we lack the professionalism and equipent in our media. but the truth is that there is more talent in pakistan than anywhere else. if you see our women are the most beautiful. its indian guys who run after pakistani girls. its our talented performers who can do so much. and thats why indians feel threatened of the beauty of pakistan and talent cause an indian actress/ model/ girl is nothing without make-up! and in every single indian movie there is something mentioned about muslims being bad. they always showa muslim girl as a prostitute. they always show a muslim villian. i mean grow up people. this is doing nothing but spreading more hatred

Its high time
by Abhi on Apr 17, 2003 09:26 PM

Its high time Indians took off their peace hats and woke up to the reality, kudos to the Maestro and Abhijeet! For those who are vehemently opposing this, do not forget that Pakistan is an ENEMY nation. Lets not forget Jammu and Kashmir terrorism, Kargil war, attacks on the Parliament, harboring terrorists like Dawood Ibrahim and funding of terrorist activities in India. There is absolutely no need to assist the pakistani entertainment industry in any way. I am a tax payer of India and I don't want my government to spend a penny on entertaining or inviting Paki singers or actors.

Music & Politics - Most Unfortunate
by Mushtaq on Apr 17, 2003 03:51 AM

I always had the greatest respect and appreciation of Jagjit Singh and I find this complaint to Advani (Hindu Fundamentalist ready to fuel the fire) extremely unfortunate. Jagjit is mixing music with politics. I have attended many of his concerts worldwide whereas, Pakistani singers are less likely to host such events and I am certain that Jagjit has earned his money and that a few PAK Rupees would be of little value to him.

No Boundaries
by Culture_g on Apr 15, 2003 09:36 AM

Music has no boundaries. If Pakis are doing something wrong that doesnt mean Indians have to do it too. India should stand as an example of freedom and democracy to Pakistan and the world.

I dont agree with Jagjit Singh ji in this matter. Instead of stopping cultural exchange, we should encourage it. They should take this issue to the Pakistani media, public and the government.

jelousy
by ali on Apr 10, 2003 10:35 AM

Well the conclusion i come to is that jagjit is jelous of pakistnis takin away fmae from him and his partners as u can see adnan sami is selling cds like hot cakes. Well jagjit points are baseless as i myslef went to pakistan last year in 2002 and witnesed a great concert of many indian artists such as stereo nation, "woh chali woh clai " thos guys and many more. and i must say it was a sold out show every one was enjoying it. the thing is most indians dont like to come to pakistan for safety isues if an isi agent is not going to be with jagjit, people crazy like osama will attack indian singers. just liek they attacked the french. So jagjit should wake up and respect pakistanis as pakistnis respect and love to move our relation ship to a new friendly level.
