The Author of this article has made a good attempt in highlighting the deficiencies but it would have been good had the author touched upon the subject of Parking fee collected by the railways through parking contractors. They are fleecing the public through high rates of fee without any justification.
The Indian Railways is going from bad to worse. The stations are filthy,There is no roof,There are no toilets,approach roads are bad and congested,coaches are dirty and not cleaned,booking counters have only one or two windows working,Credit card transactions take years to get refund for cancelled tickets,trains are crowded,Beggars,hawkers and dogs are there everywhere.Terrible.
Thanks to this Modi Govt. who are making all out effort to cure the otherwise infected System. Under this Govt. people are becoming aware of the working of all systems and people like the writer and likes are able to express their thoughts. BUT REMEMBER ALL THAT ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY. WRONGS OF 70 YEARS TAKES TIME TO BE SET RIGHT
Biggest liability on govt. is DA linked pension with medical facilities, they are looting tax payers money left and right along with politicians pension and perqs. Save Tax payers from this loot, immediate correction is needed but our FM is not dare enough to touch this issue. He can only punish common tax payers.
In a sleeper coach, in one cubic 3 3 2=8 births are available for advance booking and for reservation by paying sleeper charges, in the same train if one observe the number of passengers boarding in unreserved coach, in the same 3 3 2 cubic instead of 8 passengers 25 passengers will occupy and travel, so the revenue from rather the reserved coaches , unreserved coaches earn more, common man will not complain, will adjust sitting on the floor, near toilet, sitting on upper luggage space, hanging near door, railway earn more from these kind of common passengers by providing no comfort...

Sir you should have mentioned missing the connecting trains of journey due to delay on the first leg of journey. To board alternate train you have to buy alternate ticket.Imagine with babies luggage going to the ticket counter from your platform in the mid night and find a long queue. some times you feel you are in siberia

for that the reason is drawbacks and corruption in recruitment, PUBLIC TRANSPORT NEED BECOME AT MUST ESSENTIAL LEVEL and benifit of that things is used deliberately by employee............
Govt. should not run Railways or Airlines or Buses or telephones or Power plants or Steel plants or refineries or Banks. Govt. should only make policies and regulate.
Republic should only have direct control over Infrastructure, Irrigation, healthcare, welfare of underprivileged, education, law and order, defense and judiciary, and in all these private players MUST not be allowed at all. Health and Education must be free for all. Food security for all is also a MUST. All infrastructure work has to be done departmentally, to root out corruption by engaging private contractors for Roads and Canals. Huge fundamental reforms are required in our country, Mr. Modi seems to be the right person as of now, but too much opposition to everything only for political gains, is only hurting the country and taking it to the point of no return.

Very good, i am agree with you but i think if govt will privatize all the above then from where govt will earn to do welfare expenses? Then Govt will charge huge tax to common people. I think Govt should plan for better management like all Nav Ratna companies like bhel gail etc. not for privatization. If any private and small institution in compare to govt may handle all the problem fields then why govt should not. Nowadays Govt is not ready to take any type of responsibility so is planning for sale every precious segment to private. By this way Govt is selling country.
