Demnitisation
by P Mitra on Nov 22, 2016 09:00 PM  | Hide replies

The idea is conceptually good but to implement it in this manner is pathetic.Ends and means by Aldous Huxley illustrates that the methodology has to be foolproof and well executed. Unfortunately the govt has failed on this score.

Do you think with the corrupt babus and politicians we can devise a fool proof methodology with the level of secrecy ??

This is not a launch of some fancy new gadget.

Can't the raw materials be purchased using RTGS transactions from the supplier and a part of workers wages be paid in cash and the rest transferred to their accounts? These are hollow reasons to state about the cons of demonetization.

WAITING
by on Nov 22, 2016 05:00 PM

Since 8.11 nothing happened good. Now poor people are suffering in Banks,ATM, market etc. Mazdoors, farmers are suffering. Patients and their families are suffering. Not a single politician suffering. Not a higher class suffering. I am waiting for Achhe din. If it will come I will say demonetisation was a good step. But what is the definition of Achhe din? Will it bring down price of everything? Will it increase salary of poor? Will farmers be helped? Will petrol/diesel price be lowered? Will corrupt politicians and Industrialists will be arrested? If by this demonetisation black marketeer are suffering that is not helping poor people now. Someone's loss is not other's profit. So, I am waiting. If all the above will really happen I will say Modi is great. BUT NOT BEFORE THAT. No politician are there for poor people. Indian History.

by coreindian on Nov 22, 2016 04:16 PM

90 per cent of transactions in India is through cash and not plastic.

Only 46 per cent of adult India has bank accounts and many of them are dormant Jan Dhan accounts.

22 per cent of India only has Internet penetration.

19 per cent of Indian households do not have access to electricity.

This is the kind of economy you are dealing with.

This is a surgical strike against TAX EVADERS, not poors.
When we take facilities from the government, it is our duty to contribute towards development of nation through paying taxes. Inconvenience caused is regretted. But your children will live peacefully atleast.
