Yes including deaths of poor standing in queues. Why you father or mother did not die standing in the queue? Then you will feel the pain.

Econ.Lib. without control -the surgical strike againist the poor
by R ponnabalam on Nov 25, 2016 07:38 AM

Proper Control Mechanisms did not accompany Economic liberalization was a comment from one ex. RBI governor. That Controllessness was THE REAL surgical strike against the POOR that there exists up 45lakh crores of unaccounted and black Money within the reach of and use for the scamsters and their ilk not for the use or benefit of the poor. Those who accumulated such hoards of unaccounted money and are running parallel RBI and parallel Govt. are now up against the demonetization which spell uselessness to those dishonest ill earned currency notes and the inconvenience now experienced is also the handiwork of those who in their sinister thinking had built up 84:16 ratio of high denomination to small denomination notes that if ever any Govt. starts printing small denomination notes for exchange like this they could get the whiff of it and save their ill gotten wealth which opportunity they didn't get by this sudden step. Poor are favouring Modi action, what for-we do not know. How much they will be benefited only time will tell.
Un-employment in un-organised sector and difficulties by small traders will increase-no doubt in it, as Modi has played a game long race running horse, if he does not repeat in 2019, this correction will go waste.

Demonetisation
by Prakash Bedekar on Nov 23, 2016 05:10 PM  | Hide replies

If report published in TOI dated 22 nd and 23 rd is true, it is certain that cash crunch is going to test common man's hardships for another 6 months or more. That means the present restrictions on withdrawal will not ease in near future. This in itself shows the haste and totally irresponbile manner in which the whole programme is undertaken. For this no body but our Hon PM is responsible and it is duty to come out and explain to the nation and does not resort to present theatrics and emotional blackmailing.

Demonetarization Politics
by Jeyasimmon on Nov 23, 2016 09:10 AM  | Hide replies

The following is the key factors of failure.
1)If you can print such a large number of Rs 2,000 notes, why not more Rs 100 notes instead?
2)The move towards lower denomination notes is always a good thing.
3)Nobody is opposing banking, plastic and all that, but we are very far from achieving all that.
4)Whatever said and done, 90 per cent of transactions in India is through cash and not plastic.
5)Only 46 per cent of adult India has bank accounts and many of them are dormant Jan Dhan accounts.
6)22 per cent of India only has Internet penetration.
7)19 per cent of Indian households do not have access to electricity.
8)This is the kind of economy you are dealing with.
9)The numbers of rural India will be worse as these are averages.
As per Freidrick Von Hayak 1978 Nobel laureate ' THE POLITICAL INTERFERENCE IN MONETARY POLICY SHOULD END' and RBI should have freedom of responsibility and accountability.

Printing 2000 notes is to help reduce hassles in business transactions due to removal of 1000 and 500 notes. As you have clearly stated most business transactions happen in cash and cannot be made online immediately.

Rs.2000 note would help the businessmen more than common man

What foolish comment. Rs.2000 not could not get balance from a vegetable vendor or fish vendor or a small grocery specially this time of crisis.

It appears theRediff has lot of black-money that it has forfeited
by P Dutta on Nov 23, 2016 09:02 AM  | Hide replies

It is amply proven now that more than anybody else it is the REDIFF.COM that is suffering the most. That is the reason why it invites some buffoons who have no knowledge of how black money and Pakistani fake currency notes are playing havoc on our monetary system and our economy at large. Such negative web-sites and channels should be censored by the center for ever.
