Chinese goods bycott
by jkj on Nov 03, 2016 11:09 AM

If China can make cheepgoods, why can;t we?Obviosly, quqlity will suffer. But Poor people can,t afford costly quality and they have to do with poorer quality products. So, in India too we should cater for all classes and make all things of quality alto to audi, dhaba to Taj. And ofcourse the competition will bring the best to fore. Instead of bycotting slgan, the slogan should be on Indian efficiency improvement and system reform for make in India.

One of the reason that chinese goods are cheaper is that most of the imports from china are under invoiced. Thanks to our corrupt custom officials, govt has been loosing revenue on account of custom duty and many of our local small scale industries have already closed down.

with the views of mr. balakrishnan. we must reform and liberalize the economy rapidly, particularly labour reforms, to compete with China in manufacturing and creating millions of jobs. Trade unions are the biggest culprits in stopping this. They are protecting only 0.01% of the population who currently have formal jobs in manufacturing. If labour laws and infrastructure are liberalized and modernized, it will encourage all major MNCs as well as domestic companies to rapidly expand manufacturing in India so that 1000 times more people will get formal jobs in manufacturing. From 0.01% of population, it will increase to 10% of population. So trade unions are extremely selfish by preventing 9.99% of the population from getting formal jobs. Western countries, particularly US which is getting challenged by China will love to develop India as a counter to China. If India can emerge as an alternate to China for manufacturing, even 1/3 of China's size, it will significantly reduce China's clout in the world economy and allow US and Europe to develop India as an alternate factory. So until labour laws are reformed, we can only do token boycotts of Chinese products during Diwali but will continue to import 100 billion dollars of goods from CHina and help their population get jobs. It seems our trade unions want to support Chinese workers rather than increase Indian employment.

There is no need to create drama. The simple thing that every person is supposed to understand is to buy swadeshi goods / services wherever possible. There is no need to take morchas, burn chinese goods etc.
