We all Indians are fortunate that Lord Krishna has come down to Anand in the form of Dr. V. Kurien to serve the India Dairy Industry. He didn't applied to join as manager at Amul. Tribhuvandas Patel observed Kurien's skill and advised him to join Kaira District Co-operative Dairy.
Philosophy of Dr. V. Kurien:
* Be honest to yourself. If you are always honest to yourself, it does not take much effort in always being honest with others.
* Life is a privilege and to waste it would be wrong. In living this privilege called ‘Life’, you must accept responsibility for yourself, always use your talents to the best of your ability and contribute somehow to common good.
Lal Bahadur Shashtri visited Amul Dairy and had a vision for having a co-operative dairy at every district of India; and, today, we are having growth of dairy industry across India through NDDB, by mission of Dr. Kurien

RIP Dr Kurien !
Dr Kurien created Amul brand and he succeeded in the upliftment of poor farmers in Gujarat. But, the same cooperative movement in Maharashtra is swallowed by rotten politicians [milk cooperatives such as "Rajhansa" by Thorat,"Nandan" by Ajit Pawar, "Warna" by V. Kore,"Krushna" by J.Patil,"Dudh Ganga"by H.Patil,etc.]Why these rotten crooks put their noses in poor peoples affairs?

REST IN PEACE SIR
by steve Disa on Sep 10, 2012 02:48 PM

With due respects and malice to none, We need to usher in another revolution in the food industry to food packaging and transport without the middle men on a co-operative communal basis. Even if ten of such can be replicated in various areas, we would have carried on his philiosophy.

Regards

White Revolution
by Bichu Muttathara on Sep 10, 2012 12:54 AM

Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s ‘White Revolution’, was undoubtedly a great visionary and did not hesitate to take on the powerful Indian politician by their horns. We, born in 1960s, have personally felt the acute shortage and hoarding and black-marketing in milk across the country. It is only after his white revolution in 1960s and 1970s with the blessings of the then PMs, the country could steer clear of the acute shortage of milk and dairy products in general and the infant food in particular. Though the country and the international community rewarded him with many recognitions like Padma Vibhushan, Rama Magsaysay Award, World Food Prize, etc, I feel it will not be too much should he be conferred with Bahrat Ratna for his pioneering works at Amul, visionary efforts in self-sufficiency in Milk and Dairy products, ensuring suitable remuneration for the Milk-producuing farmers, remarkable contributions towards co-operaitve movement in the country, etc.
