While it's very good to see the metro being started at last in bangalore, it's funny to see all smalln big poloiticians trying to stake claim on it.. Also, major traffuic is on ORR, from whitefield to marathalli to silk board to electronic city and towards airport / manyata, Is there a metro planned around this major blocking stretch?.. the new flyovers won't serve much purpose as they will put toll on it so people will go below flyovers only as it happens on electronic city flyover
Congratulations to all those who had put in their best efforts to make this dream a reality. One more feather to Bangalore's cap. Great City, Great People and Great Contribution to the developement of the country. Bangalore has brought a global image beacuse of its IT progress. Great Bangalore. Keep it up.
I am not so sure, whether it will reduce the traffic too much. MG Road, Ulsoor etc have been crowded and jam-packed for many years and that route has the maximum number of Buses. How many people really take their own vehicle while going to MG Road? Majority of the people take public buses to go to MG road (because of traffic & Parking). I think people travelling by bus may use metros now, thatz all. I should says around 60% of the newly rich people (who can afford to buy small cars)are IT guys. The number of small cars have multiplied many times. So metro to Electronic City, ITPL, Manyta Business Park etc would have reduced the number of small cars on the road.

Dude metro will really be for ppl who cant afford cars...In blore every person is so much used to using his own vehicle that he will be rarely willing to use metro cos he will be worried abt his neighbours talking....quite frankly cant see much changing unless you have rules in place like to allowing cars into mg rd...that is highly unlikely...the change has to come within us the people

Hi Ravi, the traffic problem are caused by Scorpios, honda citys and other big cars. People who cannot afford cars do not contribute to the traffic problems. If the aim of the Metro is to reduce traffic, then the cars on the road should be controlled. People should be willing to leave their vehicles at home and be prepared to travel by public transport. That takes some effort :-)

Thats what Iam telling the change has to come within all of us....whether blore has big cars or small cars is not the issue...a car is a car ...its still uses space...thats why Iam saying you should ban cars in mg rd then it will make ppl use the metro but the shops will not allow that...and it is an ego issue in blore using cars small or big...its the truth

The last mile connectivity is something cities have to come up with. It has to be cheap also.
Re: Will it really reduce the traffic?
by Blue Hamsa on Oct 20, 2011 12:45 PM
For last mile connectivity, somebody should offer a vehicle on rent from the metro stations. The vehicle is rented from the metro station branch of the servie provider and deposited back at the metro station. The user would have to pay a security deposit. When banks are providing personal loans without security, why cant some rent out vehicles for its members who have deposited.
Mumbai Metro is in the hands of Ambani, who does not have prior experience. Just becoz his quote is low. With this speed Mumbai Metro will be ready after 30 years. Ambani will buld 10 new 27 storey houses from the Metro money
AP govt should feel ashamed, they started the projects 5 yrs ago, but due to the handicaps it had and thanks to the inefficient dummy CM's the project has not even reached the foundation stage.

It is the same case here in Pune. No new airport, metro - projects all in concepts only. The CM is an educated but no spine to take decision. Congress has become spineless and want to show only paper projects.

Dude its the same everywhere across India...delhi managed it on times cos politicos couldnt afford jams and pollution due to delays or else they would have delayed it to the max....We in blore are suffering big time due to this mess of metro and honestly the attitude of travel in blore, pune and hyd is use your own car or else ppl will look down on us...so really nobody knows whats the viability of these metros....really we have should have had these metros 10 years ago in all tier 1 cities...complete failure of governance to say the least

Yes, Bangalore is a national city...whatever it means..That is why it is named as "Namma metro" in kannada language which is also one among the 23 national languages of India.

quite frankly dont know why we fight and abuse abt diff cities....every single state govt has let down its city in a big way...this metro should have come out years ago but cos of the corruption we have gone backwards in everything....hopefully every city will wake up and build infrastructure urgently rather than building money

Karnataka is a beggar state, always steal others property, non of the neighbouring states are happy with karnataka, they have created enemies to all the bordering states and stealing the property of others. Karnataka must be removed from india map and partition to be done the way we have done with Pakistan... It should be thrown out of India, They dont allow other state people to work in karnataka, they dont share water to neighbouring states as if they have bought the water along with them when they were born. They capture lands of other states like maharashtra, they are corrupt. and the list gooes on. Karnataka is a cheap state with cheap mentality people and beggars and corrupt politicians, spreading venom and hatred to fellow citizens of India. If you want to live alone then go and live along with Pakistanis.. Dumb Kunnadigas
