Well they are humans no doubt, but in my humble opinion, the metro stations, globally, are designed for the humans who would travel in the metro station, or those who would provide services for the entire system, from ticket checkers to samosa / hot dog sellers.
Not sure whether the beggars / urchins are exactly passengers or service providers? Could you please elucidiate?

You can do without sarcasm Mr Abhi Bhat. Most of this beggars are lazy bones who dont wish to earn money by working hard. They make 300 to 400 per day by begging. Most of these beggars are rounded up and put in beggars colony with free 3 meals a day and clothing. Inspite they run away from there and keep begging. Why? Because begging is lucrative. If you think they are great human beings, then take them to your house. Metro stations can do without these beggars.
The traffic on roads will not ease as only those people who travel by buses or autos will switch to metros. To achieve the objective, govt. must charge heavy toll taxes from cars at various check posts during peak hours. The resources generated through it should be used for development and expansion of the metro service. This will certainly force car owners to switch to metro.

Why not xman? When singapore is doing the same and reinvesting that money on enhancing the common rapid public transport why not we also think in that way? When Netherlands can ban single driven cars on Main Roads to reduce pollution, why we can't do such things here.

What about those without a morsel to eat, but an ever expanding brood of multiple tiny mouths to feed? People who produce babies, assuming society in general will take care of them?
How should we reward those who insist on making India, the world champion baby producer?
I know that once some of the sub Saharan African countries, like say Somalia, get a handle on their death rates, especially deaths due to famine, they will overtake us on population growth rates, but do we have to benchmark with Somalia?
The pictures shown here from South End Circle and onwards is only artists sketch and NOT the real photos. These stations are to be commissioned in next two years. At present only from Byappanahalli to M G Road is only operational. For this distance of 6.7 Km the fare fixed is Rs 15/- which means the rate per Km is more than Rs 2/- Does this suit every common man's packet especially in the context of Rs 32/- poverty line which is described as " Not too ridiculous " by Sri Montek Singh ?

It is still cheaper than auto rikshaw which costs Rs 8 per km or your own car which costs atleast Rs 6 (petrol car) or Rs 4 (deisel car). It is comparable to BMTC non ac bus which costs Rs 1.1 (approx) or Rs 1.8 to 2 for volvo buses. In any case for Rs 2 per km it is the fastest way of commute compared all others, considering it takes only 14 mins for 6.7 kms which is average of 29 km per hour
For last mile connectivity, somebody should offer a vehicle on rent from the metro stations. The vehicle is rented from the metro station branch of the servie provider and deposited back at the metro station. The user would have to pay a security deposit. When banks are providing personal loans without security, why cant someone rent out vehicles for its members who have deposited. Readers please comment about issues with the idea.

They have already started an eco friendly bycycle rent service with cycle docs in all metro stations. Over this they have prepaid auto counters in MG road and byappanahalli stations with more to follow. Then there are feeder bus services (swaraj mazda vans) from metro stations to other near by places operated by BMTC
One of the dream project for many Bangaloreans, I think the credit should go to the BJP govt and also the officials involved in removing many obstacles and its speedy completion, hope the next stages are also completed in the same spirit.
Good to know that the Metro is finally starting up in Bangalore . The charge of Rs 14 from Baiyappanahalli to MG Road looks great . What's best is that at least on some routes , we can avoid getting fleeced by the autodrivers who seem to believe that they are operating Rolls Royce services . Theres a joke that we need to pay if we touch an auto in Bangalore and Chennai . At least now we have a safer , cheaper alternative .
