by howudoudo on Oct 20, 2011 11:03 PM

Very good to see how Kannadigas have accepted the metro as theirs. Also lot of Kannadigas have got jobs there.

Well done!

Bengaluru metro starts

Why starting of metro requires the pooja of a particular religion. Is it a religious function? If India is a secular nation why all these thamasha. It shows the bias of the ruling dispensation. It sends a wrong signal.

There is nothing new to these rituals like you are acting . This is not just religious, but part of our tradition since centuries followed by even your forefathers. In all the Democracies in the world go by feelings of majority and there is nothing Un-Secular for you to be complaining until it is not troubling you. FYI these are performed wherever Secular Congress is ruling also.

In a true "republic" there is a separation of religion and state enshrined in the constitution (similar to the US). So this is indeed incorrect no matter what you call it, tradition, culture etc.

Guys need to understand what is secularism. Being secular doesn't mean you run away from your practices or don't follow your religion in public. Real meaning for secularism will be only if you don't distinguish on decision making based on religion. So, if someone had prevented any other religion to perform a ritual when requested, then it is being non-secular. Hope this is being understood by everyone.
Again to summarize, performing a religious ritual will not make someone non-secular but making a decision on voting based on caste/religion will make it secular.

Hope this will stop autowala's nuisance and audacity
by ASenguta on Oct 20, 2011 04:20 PM  | Hide replies

Evnthough 7km is nt a long distance, after 6.30-7pm, autowala use to charge 100/150 rupees 3 yrs back to travel from MG road to indiranagar. They had that much audacity to ask these kind of money and use to blatantly say no if you say below their rate..Hope this will put an end to thir dream run, spend 2.5 yrs in Blr between 2004-2008 and it was a nightmarish experience, i use to avoid using my car at night since im not too comfortable in driving at night because of sepcs and thus has been harrassed by these autowala's so many times, had to pay these amounts for a short distance.

Kolkatta still in living with remaining for British.. next 50 years also they will live like that. Development is not a miracle happening in the part of world, it is basically out come of people's mindset over the part of the country.By seeing a city u can estimate the people of the Area/state..

Bhavanipur near exide.. a little distance away from Park street supposedly the poschest place in Kolkata other than citycentre.. and thats the best it has got to offer...Is it even comparable to some of the places in bangalore... UB city, lavelle road. forget all those.. compare a simple residential place like Jaynagar in bangalore to any place in Kolkata.. Is any residential place as planned an neat...Come on .. you must be joking. Compare bangalore to Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai etc.. Not Kolkata

There is no comparison between Kolkata and Bangalore. Kolkata is the metro which has still retained its heart. Bangalore lost it long ago. I have been regularly visiting both the cities since long. I see a steady deterioration in Bangalore over this time whereas Kolkata has by and large remained the same.
Yes, Kolkata has got its share of traffic jams, flyovers and malls but it is still more livable than Bangalore.

have u ever heard tht little knowledge is a dangerous thing??see the no. of banks and psus most of them headquartered in kolkata..The four nationalized banks that have their head quarters in Kolkata are:Allahabad bank,Uco bank,United Bank And West bengal State Coop Bank..And apart from tht all the foreign banks have their operations in kolkata not in bangalore. We have 35 psus here tell me how many u hv in bangalore??Kolkata metro railway is indias first underground railways. And my dear frnd bangalore is not even listed in listed metro city list in india..i.e Mumbai,Delhi,Kolkata,Chennai are four listed metro cities in india...Come to Saltlake it alone can overtake bangalore as a city.U cant even compare half of kolkata with bangalore my dear frnd...
