@super fine:

Reliance has successfully commissioned DAMEL (airport line of DMRC)....Professionally I work for commissioning systemsn for metros in India but I feel that Mumbai will be a tough job 1> monsoon 2> land acquision (although have a vague idea how reliance is tackling this issue) 3> logistic problems_ slow traffic which is a hectic problem for the workmen and staff to move from one place to another.....but Reliance has a history of finishing jobs within time but definitely with low quality (dont ask me why)

Good to see Bengaluru develop
by C W on Oct 22, 2011 03:48 PM  | Hide replies

Earlier only Chennai and Mumbai used to hear the sound of local trains chugging between one stop to another.

Then Delhi finally got a metro and now Bengaluru is able to hear the first sound of local train in form of Metro. Congrats and feel so happy for Bengalurians.

Chennai Suburban Railway - began operation in 1931. Now has 6 functioning lines (routes) Proposed for 9 more lines.

(MRTS) Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System (Elevated trains) - sanctioned in 1984 and began operation in 1997. (20 kms line functioning, work in progress to extend to further 22 kms).

Chennai Metro - Work going on for more than a year and will begin operations starting from 2013. It will have totally 5 lines and also existing MRTS will be get converted to the Metro rakes.

Perhaps this explains why driving in Chennai is much a breather than tortoise traffic in Bengaluru.

I hope Metro helps ease traffic in Bengaluru and at last get benefits like cities of Mumbai and Chennai.

Then imagine if these two train services plying on about 20 different lines were not there. It could have been worser than Bengaluru..

You said Chennai has no lane discipline. I agree to some extent because in places like Bengaluru there is no lane to be disciplined.

That is bcos Chennai was build by Britishes wheras Bengaluru was built by Kempegowda and now some people want to give his name to International airport without any contribution to "Bangalore" or "Bengaluru". But comming to lane discipline and traffic, it is her disciplined people which are her assets rather than roads.

Yeddiyurappa- Has to be credited for METRO
by kingkong on Oct 21, 2011 10:16 PM  | Hide replies

It was during Yediuarappa tenure that work took pace ,he was instrumental in driving most of the things ,so he should be given credit ,unfortunatley he is not around. what congress could not achive in last 20 years ,he did it in 3 years,it is a known fact.

Yeddy is probably the worst CM Karnataka has seen. He made karnataka come in national news channels for all the wrong reasons. If there was any other CM, metro work would have been over long time back.

hyderabad need

The fact is Hyderabad is more needed in for a Metro when compared with Bangalore. As usual bangalore is a hype with all migrated people dominating in city with zero local genuine business people.

Namma Metro credit must go to yeddy
by Nag BH on Oct 20, 2011 11:12 PM  | Hide replies

Visible progress of Metro project was actually during Yeddy's chief mInistership.Earlier,it was going at a snail's pace, even though foundation stone was laid by former CMs. But , its a sad thing Yeddy is not around, but one should not forget his efforts in completing the phase 1 project though delayed to some extent

especially to the saints. india is known to be the land of saints and whoever has hurt or shown disrespect to them has suffered miserably.

the people of india are also equally responsible for not taking up the issue on priority.

from asaram bapu to swami ramdev, each of them has been shown in bad light.

Yes I fully Agree with you.
We can forget his development attitude.Tell is there any CM who did involve in Karnataka, but it is his bad luck and Congress and JDS were behind htis guy as He was instrumental in defeating both party's.Every election his party was winning

He is occupying the seats that were legally and morally S M Krishna's, Dharam Singh's and Kumaraswamy's. These blokes made a mess including de-notifying land, indulging in nepotism, issuing mining licenses illegally and are now hiding behind court orders.
