Petrol & Diesel should be 100 Rs/Lit
by Abhijit on May 23, 2011 02:07 PM  | Hide replies

People waste fuel like anything. It should be linked directly to the market. No subsidies should be given.

Cooking gas should be 1000 Rs/Cyl. People go to hotels & spend 1000 Rs on alcohol & food. Let them pay actual price.

I read recently that in Venezuela price of petrol is 60 paisa, so why we should pay nearly Rs.70/-. Let govt fix the price at Re 1/- or less than a bottle of Bisleri Mineral water.

The best way to protest against such hike is to go on mass leave or stop buying fuel for one week. Try pooling with friends or use public transport.

the great indian scam
by kartik jain on May 23, 2011 02:06 PM  | Hide replies

As per the learned PM and his cabinet, the govt. is offering huge subsidies to Oil PSU's which is unsustainable. Except one crucial fact is always concealed....
The PSU's are loss making only because of the Govt. The govt. charges high rates of taxes on petroleum and forces the PSU's to sell it for less. This way they recover the full amount of tax for their coffers and let the PSU's bleed. As soon as the PSU's start clamouring for rate hikes, the govt. hikes the rates saying the subsidy burden is huge.

Now can anyone tell me where the hell is the subsidy given by the govt. ? The govt. only profits and profits

OIL COMPANIES MAKING A LOSS??????
by Aliasger Badshah on May 23, 2011 02:05 PM

Please shut down the companies that say that they are incuring losses!!!!!
The Goverment and the companies think Indian public is a bunch of fools
The truth is that the loss actually is the loss in profit per litre that the companies pay to the state goverment and central goverment as taxes. Nearly 65% of the Retail price of Petrol or Diesal is actually taxes the end user (Me and you) pay per litre

No clear policy for petrolium products..
by subhasis banerjee on May 23, 2011 02:03 PM

At first government should confess that they are charging much higher that the price should have been! They are taking considerably high amount as "DUTIES" on these products before selling them to the people. The story of "International price rise" does not mean anything because you are taking that that amount as tax! So before hiking price on any ground at first try to make a clear policy to withdraw the duties in phases. There should not be any unnatural tax after a time time period of 5 to 6 years. So better start today! It wont be possible to make people fool any longer.
