owning a vehicle in particular a two wheeler or a small car is not a luxury but a necessity for the common man of India. Almost all two wheelers run on petrol and majority of small and medium size cars also run on petrol though diesel version available at higher cost.
As its known fact that, the real cost of petrol is around Rs.44 per ltr and the rest are only added taxes in the form of Customs and Excise Duties and local taxes.
The government has known fully that, the common man inspite of getting disturbed with frequent raise in fuel price continue to use it for his day to day necessities and cannot do away with his conveyance. None of the political parties both local and at centre are against frequent raise as it might back fire if the centre tells them to reduce local taxes.
The only way to lessen the burden on the common man is to increase the duties and taxes on Alcohol, Tobacco products and also to offset the frequent increase, either to reduce the duties and taxes from the present structure or to increase the Income Tax on higher income group for income above 5 lacs a the present slab to be increased by 8 to 10%.
The governments at Centre and State should stop giving free gas connections, electricity, etc., since it drains the exchequer except Kerosene.
There is no chance to come out of this tragedy as we totally depend on import.
Rich people are getting more advantage of subsidy than poor people. If a poor household is having a two wheeler, they may be consuming 10/15 ltrs. of petrol per month whereas rich household where every member may be having four wheelers and consuming hundreds of litres of petrol, thereby getting more advantage of subsidy. Same is the case for LPG, poor may be using one cylinder for 2 or 3 months whereas rich may be using one cylinder for 15 days or so. So, the advantage of subsidy goes to rich!!

Here the discussion is not between the rich and the poor. Rather, the actual victims, the MIDDLE CLASS people
Just yesterday, the brilliant economist PM said that inflation is a major concern, now they want to increase prices. Did he mean that inflation at around 10% is not good, he wants to take it to 20%?

Our politicians won't let you do that...even if you manage to get one, they will add up all the taxes/vat and make it same as petrol/diesel and start looting us again

The basic fact is that we are a big importing country and are putting on millions of four and two wheelers every year without any concern for foreign exchange, subsidies or mounting pollution. In international forums our leaders tell untruths of reducing carbon footprints and do little to popularize electrified mass transit system. The rich and the upper middle class are the beneficiaries and the poor pay for their luxuries. If subsidies are not properly targeted, nothing can help.

Don't worry soon it will happen .. you will be forced by our politicians to ride bicycle, no just for short distance but even for traveling inter-city. Only filthy rich and corrupt politicians and babus can afford motor-vehicles if such a trend continues.. Again we will go back to the age when British left us even stripped of basic clothes and food.

We are ruled by a totally weak and inactive prime minister. Who only uses his energy to up his hands from any responsibility. This alibaba is to be removed as early as possible before his forty thieves loot us all. His home minister does;nt know how some names come in terrorist list, his agri. ministers does not think himself responsible for food price hike. His finance minister only cares for so called loss making companies. His railway ministers has left railway on air for her own political battle, his telecom. minister created a huge fraud. His envt. minister is busy in giving all inconsistent statements on various issues on Jaitapur. COngi prince n his teammates are busy in great drama in U.P. They never bothered about suicides of farmers in other congress ruled state. Really all this is disgusting.
