very good idea should be carried out fast
by Rajeev Rumale on May 21, 2011 02:26 AM

I fully support this view, every thing new would have side effects. But I suppose after the experiment of Chandighar we really did not go ahead and used the learnings for implementing this.

I would see the kind of planning and control we have in Navi mumbai where the Improvement Trust is doing all the planning.

Having new planned cities would also reduce the burden on the existing city infrastrutures and make life easier from people in those cities.

Apart from this I would suggest have similar project in other places. Vidharbha region also requires similar city. Wheter to develop Nagpur or take up any other city but one city is required.

No point developing only certain part of country.

Leave Nashik alone. Does not need more migrants from N. India.
by NashikMarathi on May 21, 2011 01:58 AM

Maharashtra already has Mumbai, Thane-Navi Mumbai, Pune....

What is the need to develop Nashik-Igatpuri-Sinnar?

One reason - so the UP/Biharis can migrate to a less populated area compared to UP/Bihar.

Make the stupid new cities in Bihar... and keep UP/Biharis in UP/Bihar.

And for the Noida hawkers.... the population of Noida is 4 lakhs which qualifies it to be one fifth of Nashik... so give Noida a rest. Five times the population of Noida of UP/Biharis are squatting in Mumbai alone.

Manmohan Singh is killing India. The people of our country must take our nation back and hang all the puppet politicians from all the parties. Our democracy is not real, it is plastic and fake/dummy. We must also leave The Commonwealth as well. It does not benefit our Bharatia.

Stop the Corporate Take Over of India
by Virendra Patel on May 21, 2011 01:15 AM

We do need to modernize our country confidently and efficiently, but at the same time, we must never sell our nation out, in the name of Corporations and allow foreign companies set up and loot from India. We the people must strike back. We should upgrade our Agriculture and also merge and vastly modernize and improve ALL villages to the very highest standards of living and cleanliness, so that rural India continues to flourish and keeping all it's values and vastly improves its present way of life. We can also urbanize our country and also improve and vastly upgrade the poor infrastructure and also making ALL our transport safe and reliable. India needs to take back our country from the evil powers of puppet government.

Logical Error
Re: POPULATION
by Logical Error on May 21, 2011 04:20 AM
Population will keep increasing in India because some religions want their numbers to grow and remaining ones don't want their percentage share to go down. Our government won't do anything that can hurt their vote bank. The least thing they are do is to seal all borders so that people don't migrate from neighbouring countries.

Samit, if these brain-dead people continue to procreate, they should all be physically and mentally punished. They do not realize they are straining all of our nations resources and using too many fuels. India as a country, must have a 15-year population FREEZE. Brain-dead people like common sense. They do not see the big picture of the world as a whole and are not clued up of world events and what evil agenda is around the corner. We the people of India, must never be used as laboratory rats by global pharmaceutical firms and foreign corporations.

An error on my part - Brain dead people LACK common sense. Just thought I should clear that up. But most brain-dead people are too distracted, by watching Bollywood, Cricket, Arranged Marriages, mass-consumerism and cultural events.

Is there anyone to care about agriculture?
by The Democracy on May 20, 2011 11:47 PM  | Hide replies

Before anything else, people need food at "affordable price". Middleman (whole seller) eats all profit and hard working farmers are left with nothing. So, they are moving to cities for job of labor. Farmers are vanishing very fast. Naturally the price of food is increasing.

If govt doesn't take big step immediately to fix farming, all these cities will die because most people won't be able to afford extremely high priced food.

Another name for Land scam
by Count Meout on May 20, 2011 11:42 PM

Planning new cities !! This is nothing but another name for Land Scam.
This is how government goes about doing stuff. Announce a grandiose scheme. A few in the know will corner the land. Then sell these to the developers. There will no infrastructure for many years. And then the promise of a new cities will be nothing more than some 'Rubbish' idea. Let them try and fix the infrastructure problems in Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkota and Chennai. Useless fellows.
