What about the existing cities with poor infrastructure, town planning, illegal constructions, govt &its apathy towards land sharks?First set things in order in existing cities&metros? think about new cities later. or is this is another monumental scam in the making?

DREAM
by rahul_gandhitherealone@rediffmail.com on May 20, 2011 08:13 PM

Keep dreaming, some day you may achieve it but certainly not before another 100 years. We have heard of many such grand projects and where are they now?

Just whose brainchild is this? Our MPs & MLAs
should first start paying taxes. Then only will they be able to value taxpayers' money.

by bharatwasi m on May 20, 2011 08:06 PM

these politicians know only construction in the name of development & more construction means more money in the pocket of politicians & burecrates...we have big example...lavasa, adarsh & CWG...small in comparison to cities...think of what will happen to public / tax money...second, anyhow the planners in our country really go with horrible planning...it can be seen at the so called National Highways with toll naka...except for 1-2 highways, all r bad dreams...where local villagers with bullock carts & pheri walas capture one of the lanes...I have travlled from bangalore to delhi via road many a time with a 4 day journey...feel like asking an RTI from NHAI...millions of rs are wasted...we pay horrible taxes to RTA...& what we r travelling on...Once made, there is nothing like maintenance...it will be spoiled for years and then changed ultimately to make more money...first road will be made, then water board will come & dig...road again, electricity dig up, road again, telephone will dig up, road again, then they will remember the pavements or footpaths...horrible....no GIS mapping for lines underneath...They will cutdown n no of trees & no plantation, everybody will say others to plant & ultimately no trees & money for trees goes in...Minitry of enviornment is busy selling BT brinjal...No interest in day to day horrible pollution, it's difficult to go on streets of hy

Its only your way of thinking which is very negative ........ Mumbai is commercial capital and Delhi is National capital so it good to start from there....this project is covering center, west and few parts of south too..... so why u r so worried...its all our INDIA.... and pls don't spread such separation messages and provoke people.

What a joke?
by sharda kejriwal on May 20, 2011 08:00 PM

Another Adarsh CWG 2G in the making. What the public get time will only tell. 50% of the next-gen cities will go to the politicians and the rest will be unfit for general public if at all they get any.
See what is happening to the commonwealth village built for guest of commonwealth games and now dogs are pissing there.

Good Move
by talk cool on May 20, 2011 07:59 PM

Hope this really works out.
In USA also they realized that staying in NY and New England would not help. So they migrated westwards and now even remote Salt Lake City is well developed. The beauty of US is the population is distributed across the country.
If we distribute the population across many cities then we don't have ChopadPattis and yes no question of Raj Thackeray.
