This dream has probably changed it. Anyway he has put others to work on it. Good beginning. Even if bright fellows can work it out for, say with an addition of a zero, it is worth it. Let us look forward to the dream house. Please include Governments to grant free land for all BPOs in India certified by Mr. Nandan Nilekani.
Or is it only an exercise for homework, Professor?
(In fact I did not like myself writing this comment.)
Good Idea by the Professor, however doesn't seem possible. Take into account : -> Ever increasing LAND prices -> Double Digit Inflation -> Corrupt Politicians!
Even if it were possible, due to corruption the cost will be 100x more than $300

Forget about the land price, all the housing is for the people living in slums. Do think they ever pay for the land when setting up slums?
Its really an innovative project. By the end of 2020 all the 5 billion people will get a house thro' micro finance. Let us pray for this project. By Prof. Prabakar, Coimbatore.

THIS IS JUST TAKING NOT POSSIABLE ANYWHERE EVEN IF THE COST OF THE LAND IS ZERO
Why limit the design to $300 worth. If u can provide a decent house with toilet and other amenities within $3000 it will carry more utility and worhiness.....this is just about creating a news and trying to get into Guiness book of Records but nothing into any practicality...
