Petrol Price Hike
by P K Aravindan on May 17, 2011 08:09 PM

It is a daylight robbery and cheating by the UPA of common man by doing this. Those in power have no impact of this because every paise is paid by people like us. They should have the courtesy to reexamine the customs, Excise and the Sales tax which form more than 60% of the price of fuel. People should take the matter to the streets and should not allow these people to move around freely.

petrol price hike

no more big cars which consume more petrol than small and medium size cars. i dont think people will protest like people in yemen, egypt, libya and other gulf countries against price rise.the pro-capitalist class UPA govt is not interested in doing anything to pass the burden to the rich class. immediately after the elections , the petrol hike is announced. this shows the political motive behind this. if the cess revenue earned due to increase in the inrternational rise in crude oil, is passed on to the oil cos then there will not be any need to impose the burden on the aam admi by increasing the petrol price.

Load!!

The sudden declaration of a hike in petrol prices has angered people across India, as this is the seventh time in 11 months that petrol prices have gone up and are set to upset household budgets. In the biggest-ever price increase of the fuel, state-owned oil companies hiked petrol price by Rs. 5 per litre with effect from 15 May midnight, just after the election results are out in five states!!
The justification provided by the Manmohan Sing Govt is constant raise in the price of the crude oil, the Govt can not take the load of the increase in subsidy.

But today's question from a common man to the Honarable Prime Minister of India, "How come you can take the load of 2G scam, which is worth few thousand Crores of Rupees, but not the subsidy in petrol price?"..... any answer Sir?

The tragedy is that people responsible for increase in Petro price rise in India is that5 they and their family members do not pay a single penny for this product.

RISING PETROLEUM PRICES
by jagannadh rao on May 17, 2011 03:52 PM

I fail to understand the logic and the reasons trotted out in justification of the price hike in petroleum products. As I am aware India imports hardly 20 to 30 % of its requirements of petroleum products (the rest is met by indegeneous production from ONGC, Reliance, Cairn etc.) Is this hike only to enabler these companies to make more profits at the cost of Indian public. Even the pertoleum prices are not fixed in a transparent manner and are based on some silly and convulted logic which defies understanding. Selling kerosine cheap is leading to its diversion for adulteration of diesel and petrol. The petroleum pricing mechanism is defective and the Govt has not reduced the taxation component of the price to give relief to the aam admi ( a long suffering species who are most sought at election time by every political party and forgotten soon after the votes are cast--- SO MUCH FOR OUR DEMOCRATIC EXPERIMENTS EVEN 63 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE).Govt has a lot to answer regarding petroleum prices rather than depend on some silly PARTY SPOKESPERSON'S mouthing nonsense before a fawning group of sycophants for cameras.
