Time to have realisitc petrol and diesel prices.
by Inapakutiki Raju on May 16, 2011 11:13 AM

Indians are cheated more frequently these days in the name of hike in the petrol prices. It is foolsh to have different tax structures for petoleum products than a single tax when the power to hike the price is rested only with the Govt of India. Further GoI shall come out with a white paper on pricing petroleum products. The Indians are cheated more by none other than the Governments. It is high time that GoI declares its policy along with the way it is arriving at the price when there is a change in the price of a barrel.

Buy Petrol Directly
by syed khundmir ashfaq on May 16, 2011 11:13 AM  | Hide replies

I read in rediff few days back about list of cheapest petrol in the world.

I had replied that why buy crude ? lets buy petrol directrly from venezuela at INR 5 odd a ltr.

Sonia Gandhi can keep 100 percent profit and sell it to we indians at Rs 10 per ltr which i assume is a better solution than to pay the current petrol prices.

Syed, this is a good observation but it will never be done as current crude import is a bonanza to govt for collecting taxes.

Govt can reduce petrol prices but ???
by santosh singh on May 16, 2011 11:05 AM  | Hide replies

Here is the cost of petrol in delhi and its bifurcation.
Basic Price       26.84
Excise duty       17.56
Education Tax       0.53
Dealer commission       1.29
VAT       6.73
Crude Oil Custom duty       1.35
Petrol Custom       1.88
Transportation Charge       7.34
Total price       63.52
Clearly it shows vat & excise duty total is 24.29. From this amount govt can reduce if they want, No loss to oil companies etc. I don't know how come govt. is giving subsidy?

Social Boycott - Oil companies
by JIGISHU SHAH on May 16, 2011 11:02 AM  | Hide replies

The time has come now to show this lethargic government and dictator oil companies the power of SOCIAL BOYCOTT, as our protests and shouting against the price hike will go waste.
As consious citizens, let us reduce our usage of petrol to such an extent that the companies become over supplied (force them to reduce production).
Its in our hand now... DECIDE wehther to shout or silently show our POWER.

The great UPA govt thinks that ....

Ambhanis & Tatas fall under BPL category and thats why they need subsidy.

Hence, Pranabda deicided that ATF should be cheaper than the ordinary Petrol which is meant for the "rich middle class".

Please have some sympathy for the "poorest of the poor Ambhanis, Tatas, Mittals & Malyas".

Jai Hind !!

If we obtain all the money swallowed by politicians in scams then Rs.45per litre of petrol would remain stable at this price for atleast 15 years for sure

Mr. Chalta Hain, when you make a comment and specifically a comparison, please make sure you are correct with your data and calculations. Its your chalta hai attitude which made you falter here. For USA, the rate is per gallon. The public is more informed than what you think. So, stop this blind support for this corrupt Government.
