trains lading humans like animals, outdated disel engines
by Sheikh Akber on Mar 09, 2011 02:50 PM

engines outdated and using adulterated diesel, power engine seems powerless, traffic system old and at many places uses british made signalling systems, look at the way we travel through trains and look at china and other countries, indian railways have vast network but yet running trains still like in 1960s, still in villages you will find 30-40 year old engine plying on tracks, bottom line is railways have been used as political tools in india rather than public transportation, its rotted like our polical system, privitasation was the need of the hour 20 years back but it didn't happened as public were unwilling to pay little higher fares, and there wasn't political will as politicians are having fun in playing politics with railway on their hand. hai ho bharat!

Who is Aaam Admi
by yugapurush on Mar 09, 2011 02:45 PM  | Hide replies

Is it the one who drink evening and beat his wife and children?
Or is it the one one who vote for congis on an offer of quarter bottle liquor and one chicken piece.

If the above category comes under aam aadmi then they deserve to die to save this country

Endless categories of trains
by sudhakar dwivedi on Mar 09, 2011 02:41 PM  | Hide replies

railwyas are just increasing the categories of trains just see Passenger,
express,
superfast,
Rajdhani,
shatabdi,
jan shatabdi,
garib rath,
sampark kranti,
yuva,
duronto
intercity.......and so on...
instead of making so much classification just stick with 4~5 categories and concentrate on quality of services and punctuality....other wise oneday even indians will start getting confused which train offers what,

these segmentations are not based on the service / product criteria of the railway busket ; but targeted towards voter community for recognising their existence

Yes, I fully agree with you. Travelling public are not concerned about the name but the quality of services and amenities being provided. Another problem on long distance trains particularly on the trains running through Howrah-Chennai route is the harassment by 'hijras'. At least 5-6 groups board the train in course of abount 1600 KM distance and extract good amount of money from the passengers. The RPF, GRP and the railway officials are not at all bothered. The concerned authorities are requested to do something to stop this harassment.

Is Mamta a linesman standing in the signal ? Or is Mamta a railway inspector to decide priority of different train's timings ?

This type of personal attack is uncivilized.Rediff should change the headline.

Railways should look beyond populistic measures.
by sudhakar dwivedi on Mar 09, 2011 02:35 PM

I could never understand what this superfast means,i todays world average speed of just 55kmph ( railwyas parameter of superfast trains) is nothing its just another way of taking money in name of surcharge. these trains are hardly different then normal express trains with some exceptions,
railway's hsould raise the bar for superfast category and attach some value added features for a train to get in superfast club,.i.e make train fully reserved or replace general coaches with sitting ones, pantry must, defined cleaning schedule, restricted entry for beggers, eunuchs, vendors etc etc .... then superfast trains will give a different feel.

bengali minister and writer.....
by ravindra kulkarni on Mar 09, 2011 02:32 PM

I regularly travel between kazipet to secunderabd in the evening by telangana express. this train should reach sec'bad 2025 hrs, however always sec'bad station will full of trains and no platforms will free and stop arival trains almost hour together. Already a garib rath train runs b/n secbad and vishaka'n in night, she announced one more duronto from same route. Among the train regions exprerienced, south central is bit good, however these authorities are not giving importance to create infrastructure like new platforms and ticket counters. For minister interest and negligence of railway authorities aam passinger has to pay in terms of delays.
My dear Honest Priminister, include some good MP as ministers, already much damage has been done by agri mini stupid pawar for food price rise now railways also become worst administered. My suggestion is let didi be railway minister for bengal and appoint sincere man rest of country. Atleast now it is your time to show serious interest about india

from the time, she became a railway minister the Kolkata's most effective transport system that is Metro Rail service has gone haywire. There is nothing called punctuality in mertro service now.
