why can't we keep the population explosion in check! that is the root cause of most miseries India (or for that matter, most of the world) is in! if demand goes down, supply will match up in the long run!

Frustrating
by Argumentative Indian on Jun 02, 2011 01:47 PM  | Hide replies

I wonder how we, as successful private citizens can help this situation. I already know I screwed up badly by not voting in the last elections, and will definitely give my humble feedback to our erudite Prime Minister through my vote in the next election. However, that's still in 2014, what can we do now?

Are there any NGOs in this space?

food crisis
by sailor on Jun 02, 2011 01:40 PM  | Hide replies

Inspite of the crisis, we hear lakhs of tonnes of food grains lying rotting in the open, which speaks volumes of the mis management of the economy, agriculture and the distribution. Poor farmers! If there is shortage in production they suffer, if excess then low price due to lack of storage facility.

India facing food crisis

Why not? if people like Mayawati disrespect the Farmers.

We should learn to respect them first, and give preferences for any concession, waiver of Loan etc.

This will improve their lives and we will get our uninterrupted food for our daily living.

They are the Feeding people for every Indian.

Build infrastructure...
by Yoni Tantra on Jun 02, 2011 01:12 PM

Build infrastructure to take growth to rural and semi rural areas..... Availability of food is not an issue but ability to buy food is an issue... Rural poor are still living in the license Raj... wealth generated by liberal economic policy still reached a small fragment of urban population and pockets....

Hunger in India
by kailashchandra bohra on Jun 02, 2011 01:02 PM

India do not need any external aid from any country, it needs only a systemic improvement in food distributions. So far it is under the Government controlled, the wastage on account of rottenness due to rains will be there, seems to be a policy to keep the prices high. The same quantity, which Government agencies can't handle, can be got stored through the private agencies; and can be got back whenever there is a need. Storage charges can be given to private entrepreneur.it is just a type miss-handling like a mishandling.
