India's GDP
by Malay Barua on Jul 22, 2011 09:52 AM  | Hide replies

India's GDP in the year 2009-2010 was 1.74 Trillion or 1740 billion Dollar. The Top 20 state's GDP adds up to 1183.98 billion dollar.(as per Rediff) The gap is 556.02 billion dollar. Where it has comes from? In other word rediff GDP figure is wrong.

dear your information is for 2009-2010 and rediffs information is for 2010-2011. remameber, Inida has grown at the rate of 8.4% in 2011. Probably you do not know another thing. There are three souuces for this infirmation. One is IMF, s econd is world Bank and the third is CIA. The GDP and per capita incaome vary by about 10% in these sources. See wiki for these things.

That means 68% of total GDP is contributed by these 20 states. Should we therefore presume that balance 32% comes from other 5 states? Or these GDP figures pertain to years other than 2009-10? Sri Malay Barua's point is very relevant.

certainly. I doubt that UP ranks second in GDP. It is another goof by Rediff. Ofcourse- UP is no 1 in: GDC- Gross Domestic crimes, GDL: Gross domestic looting, GDW- gross domestic wasting. No one - with little sense- will waste thousands of crores in erecting Kanshiram & elephant statues and so called parks! Only Mayawathi did. She has wasted billions of rupees in erecting useless statues. UP is undisputer No1 in Crimes. Ofcourse it is the most unholy place UP- on this earth.

UP ROCKS
by Chalta Hai on Jul 22, 2011 09:40 AM  | Hide replies

only two states in INDIA have GDP of Rs 5 lakhs crore, one is Maharastra and second is UP and UP is fast catching on the jittery Maharastra and will top it SOON. UP has world class cities like Noida which Maharastra lacks.

UP is birthplace of stalwarts the TOP INDIAN TALENT such as Rama Krishna Aryabhatta Gautam Buddah Raavaan Mayawathi Jawarlal Nehru and so on. GODS chose UP to take birth and King Akbar toured US and China and even Europe but could not find a better place than UP to build his Taj Mahal, imagine THAT.

I can understand your feelings, but to know real progress, you should see "GDP per capita" that is GDP divided by population.
If population is more(may be becuase of large area/hugue population) then total GDP will be high, but people are poor! That is the case of UP! noting to celabrate my dear friend.

Daer Raj,
It will never happen; From centuries People across world not only India are chosing the land between Ganga and Yamuna to settle. You might not be knowing that scores of Marathi have come and settled in area near Jahansi, Gwaliar, Kanpur and in sevreal parts of MP the Hindi hinterlands. They have never been beaten like Raj did in Maharastra.

Good, but not very informative

Per capita makes much more sense as we will get to know how much wealth is being created by a person in state on an average. I suppose Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra will be on the top.
