so more than 40% of GDP is from mumbai region, what does it tell about rest of Maharashtra? Not to mention the region adjucent to bombay (Pune and Nashik) showed some development in last 10 yrs because mumbai got totally saturated and some investment redirected to these regions.

I pity your logic Usha.
60% GDP is coming from rest of Maharashtra and you are trying to paint that the MH is nothing but Mumbai....again very skewed logic...

Well Usah .. for your logic.. Why Surat didnt become Auto / hub and why Pune?? both cities are 3 hours drive... Surat is textile and diamond hub because of suitable infra and skilled labour for that industry.. Pune has got infrastructure developed and skilled manpower due to huge educationa setup hence it is second Metro of India... Second same goes to Nashik/aurangabad.. Investment goes where you have infrastructure... doesnt matter anywahere...

The auto hub title for Pune is little bit contentious as Chennai now has more production units than Pune. Education setup of pune is something only punekar know about, none of the engineering college of Pune shows up in top 10 of any list.
Anyway my point is 60% from rest of the maharashtra vs 40% from mumbai, i don't know why mahrashtrians should praise their gov for this performance. It actually shows that rulers of maharashtra have not done anything other than looting money and supporting land mafia.

by radicalred on Jul 22, 2011 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

Maratis and Gujjus fighting each other. Ideally, it should have been the fight between Maratis and UP guys!!! the 1st and 2nd big guys...
Gujarat is (90b) nowhere near Maharashtra(190) in this analysis..!! It is impossible for Guj to catch up with Maha. Theoretically and practically speaking.

Yes you are right.. Both Gujarat and Maharashtra are growing but differently.. For example Gujarat is growing fast in Petro, ports, Power, Engg sectors.. but is making too much noise about it.. RBI report doesnt even go anywhere near to so called Vibrant Gujarat Figures...

On the other hand Maha never made such noises but is growing steadily in Auto and IT and Services.. Yes manufacturing was hit due to power issue but now it is growing steadily... No one should really compare both .. they are in different league altogether... but recently some people have started claiming Gujarat figures without going to RBI website and checking facts... Hopefully these figures which are released by RBI solves the confusion for the curios internet geeks :)

Good to see A.P. at No.2 - thanks to Chandrababu Naidu
by softouch on Jul 22, 2011 04:46 PM  | Hide replies

Good to see A.P. at No.2. I grew up in Hyderabad and remember the time Chandrababu Naidu pursued IT Companies to set up shop in Hyderabad. The rest, as they say, is history. I'm not a TDP supporter, but have to acknowledge Babu's role in transforming A.P. from a back-bencher (i still remember A.P. used to be compared with Bihar and Orissa)to a front bencher today. Thank you Chandrababu Naidu Garu.
