But they are much better than Congess ruled states like Rajastan and Assam.
Look at income per capita.. you will identify the clear pic.
UP : Income per capita $488 AP : $1077 WB : $875 Karnataka : $1070 Rajasthan : $722 Madhyapradesh : $575 Bihar : $340 Odisha : $702 Assam : $574
I have taken big states with nearly $1000 per capita or less. I didnot include small states and big states ( which income per capita comprehensivly higher than $1000)
You can see UP,Bihar, WB and MP are underperformer.. If you take out Noida ( which is in NCP belt) then UP's income per capita will drop below $300 or so. Similarly If you exclude Kolkata, then WB's income per capita will drop near to $500. Which means people from Rajasthan and Odisha are much wealthier than above mentioned states. Similar case can consider to AP and Karnataka if you exclude Hyd and B'lore then their income per capita will drastically fall to near $700 or less.
In case of Odisha and Rajasthan this 2 states do not ve huge city like above mentioned states but on performance basis they ve improved a lot, look like at par with Karnataka and AP (excluding Hyd and B'lore)

I agree with your message to some extent. You assumption about UP may not be correct as contribution of Noida is not much becuase the sheer size of UP and noida has only small portion of income generated by overall NCR region. You are right about WB and AP though.

Sorry mate, I suppose to say exclude Gaziabad and Noida ( both are near to Delhi and ve got huge advantages for that) if u exclude both from UP's income per capita, I am sure it will drop to $300 or at par Bihar

I am no expert, but my take is that cities were expected to drive growth and there is no point in saying that true picture is without them. Cities get infra and other funding more than villages and hence nothing unexpected there. The golden quadrilateral (60k crore) and JNNRUM (1L crore) which were undertaken by central govt was about connecting/improving city infrastructure as GDP and growth at the moment is driven by them anyway.

Any how ,the per capita income of Indian states are comparable to african countries like Ethiopia,Congo, etc, which is a very tragic fact.

Yes, but per capita income growth rate is MUCH higher than those countries. Our per capita income has tripled from $ 400 in 2001 to $ 1200 in 2011.

Wherever lesser influence of BJP and Communism the growth seems to be better.

It is nice to have pride over their state and to compete with others in a healthier manner. Then why your state GDP is less
