Profit---service????
by varghese on Jan 29, 2011 09:57 AM

Railways is not supposed to make profit at the cost of service to the nation..as long as it doesnt make loss to the nation and its people in form of service its purpose has been served..Govt services are not like cold blooded private firms whose only mantra is profit profit and profit..

kindly do not confuse private and public service organizations...their total purpose is different..

EXTRA EXPENDITURE AT RLYS DUE TO MAMTA
by Birju on Jan 29, 2011 09:56 AM

1. 1000s of litres of green n yellow paint(Mamta's favourite color) to repaint all rly. stations, signal cabins and all rly properties in WB.
2. Everyday 1-2 at times 2-3 full page coloured advertisement with Mamta'a giving her best pose at all news papers (who campaign for her) of some foundation stone laying ceremony or re-stone laying or re-re re stone laying ceremony of any things related or not related by any length of imagination to the railways.
3. Paying hefty amounts to scores of 'intellectuals' by placing them at various committees of Rlys in paid positions. In return they are to relentlessly attack the left front govt. support the maoists and ofcourse praise Mamata in seminars, TV channels and news paper columns as 'impartial' experts.
4. Cost of carrying files from New delhi to her kolkata residence by flight by rly officials frequently.
5. Cost of frequent political meetings under some or other Rlys function almost every day in some or other part of Bengal.
6. Cost of carrying 5-6 other TMC ministers of Govt of india like shadow behind Mamata in each and every occasion she attends be it for Rlys or for Kolkata Corporation (which is also under TMC now).

Understandably .... public has to suffer a little for this gr8 leader fighting for a much greater cause at the behest of paltry things like Indian rlys.

Railway Losses
by majji babu on Jan 29, 2011 09:46 AM

Lets first understand that Railway derives its revenue from two services- Freight and Passenger. Since the Passenger services are subsidized and also since Rlys is a non-commercial orgn with huge social responsibility (provide quotas, generate jobs, connect non-profitable sectors etc) the profits were always non-existent in this sector. While for revenues from Freight , Rlys depends on other sectors (industries) which have been a victim of recession. So dont compare and draw any conclusions. Laloo did not have any magic wand , he was lucky to be as MOR during the economic boom!. However, this does'nt mean that Mamata is good. She could have definitely done a lot better if she would have focussed properly (but with her primary goal to become CM of WB it looks a difficult prospect). To have more clear picture, stats of sector-wise expenditure should also be available before conclusions can be drawn. Coming back to performance, it would be unfair to ask for more from Rlys especially when the Govt itself is performing miserably and remains highly mis-managed. They are currently toying with economic statistics (GDP, WPI, Inflation etc) and giving a rosy picture to everything. If we make sector-wise analysis (not through our official Govt stats) then we will get a clear picture of the current state of our country. Agriculture is no-1 priority with the produce not sufficient to feed even 40% of the population it remains very ugly (unchecked population boom)

The Mamata mission on railways
by daniel thorat on Jan 29, 2011 09:36 AM  | Hide replies

Loot the nation`s property by letting WB voters suin, steal, break, burn and travel without tickets. Mamata knows that if CWG and Telecom min. and rotting foodgrains can get away why not she herself? This country is surely going down the drain and let us forget about all those lofty, pompous sentiments of our leaders and poets. Manmohan Singh will prefer quitting to saying one word to his Rail minister for her faults.

When she was with NDA she resigned against corruption which was too small considering the CWG,2G,Adarsh and overall rotting foodgrain in Govt.Warehouse.She herself is a corrupt person because she won her first election by declaring a false American doctorate degree and always associated with corrupt people. She prefer to remains silent on all corruption (Loot)
charges raised by Hon'ble Supreme court of India
