Dude, a thief knows the other thief. That was precisely the case of Lallu. He saw touts selling tickets at exorbitant rates for those who want to do a last minute travel. He introduced Tatkal and improved the margins. He saw the wagons of the goods trains are being overloaded and are never accounted but the tracks are still taking that kind of load, he imeadiately declared that the wagons would hence worth carry 20-25% more load and made money for railways. In no place he flouted the infrastructre. By recognizing the areas where misuse is happening, he legalized the activities and helped railways make more and more money. Mamta is nether making money nor helping people. She is too simple to understand that Railways is gold mine. So under her the Railways is only going from bad to worse to worst.
railways is an extension of mamta party fund. Most good corporations suffer because of stupid and lackadaisical management. mamta has no vision except the ones as a politician. her sole aim seems to be catering to her vote bank. Govt revenues be damned.

All the previous Rly Ministers have shown their interest to their state. Why the people are worried about Mamata Banerjee. She is doing everything for the development of Indian economy which will ultimately give fruits after 2-3 years. We, the bengalies, certify that most poorest MP is trying to implement the railway as an exemplary instance of economy. Don't critisize her. Even Prime Minister is very happy with her last Railway Budget. Bandemataram.

Are you aware that "Exclusive Fright Corridor" which would make freight movement faster and passenger travel safe and faster is on hold for so many months, because of Ms. Bannerjee. None of her new trains are meant to improve revenue in a significant way. Instead the pilgrim trains introduced are only causing more losses to Railways. People are blaming Mamta because today Railways is such a vital part of life both personally and professioanlly and she is caring a damn about it.
Many people talking about Privitization, if it is in the Private hands, then they treat this as sleeper class bus and the sleeper coach charges may rise to high as Volvo charges. Then it will not be reachable to indian middle class people. by employing better people and ideas, there is a chance for profits, and this is possible only if somebody can keep the politics away from the railways. thanks Kumar
This is because of increase in corruption in railways. If ticket is being directly booked from the reservation counter even if in 90 days advance one will get PQWL, RLWL, etc., wait list ticket which will never confirm whereas if you give money to railway official you will get confirmed ticket any time.

ticketing has been made easy...and corruption is there in central cabinet..why blame TTE who are doing this since 1947!!!

then who will feed lakhs of balaji's and chandrasekara's who are living in bengal??? jaya or karuna..or will they join ltte?
Railways always runs at a loss like any other useless Govt. organisation. Lalu managed to inflate numbers and show it off as profits. In USA Lalu would have been sent to jail. But in India he is being hailed a hero. Atleast Mamta is being honest about numbers.

If you have travelled in the long distance trains atleast once a year, you would know the difference. How was it then and what it has become now. Sleeper class is dirty and un-hygenic. 3rd AC class hardly bearable. AC stops working at times. Coaches are hardly maintained. While I was in college a few years ago we found sleeper class good for us, now I have to travel in 2nd AC to get some comfort.
SHE IS NOT WORTH DISCUSSIONS BECAUSE SHE IS JUST WORRIED HOW TO BECOME CHIEF MINISTER OF WEST BENGAL WHICH SHE WILL NEVER EVER BECOME. SEE THE WAY HOW SHE TALKS, IT SHOWS HER CALIBRE AND HER EDUCATION. SHE IS THERE AS A RAILWAY MINISTER JUST BECAUSE CONGRESS (I) IS SHORT OF MAJORITY IN THE PARLIAMENT, OTHERWISE SHE IS NOT WORTH EVEN TO BECOME A CLERK. WE CAN ONLY PRAY TO GOD TO REMOVE HER FROM THE INDIAN POLITICAL SCENE.

And no power can stop mamata from becoming cm this year because people are fed up with cpim.

mr zafar (mir?), hundreds of ministers are there in India who are not even eligible to be a servant of an educated indian family!
