Take your CALL
by m m on Jan 25, 2011 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

90% of the time people will not be able to reach you if you are with BSNL in most part of the country. Airtel can let people reach you 90% of the time. IDEA and Vodaphone is for 50-50 %. Rest are so so. Now you decide for yourself who you should be with !!!!

No body is talking about the service given by reliance. i am using reliance cdma since 2000. their service is ok but cost more. most of the service providers are not intrested in existing customer. only give more and more facilities in terms of service and financial help to new comers only.

Reliance is worst service provider in terms of customer care. It takes at least 10 minutes to reach to proper person in their call centre. Also they cheat by deducting the balance again and again for one transaction and then customer care executive is not ready to take a complaint for it. So all time waiting for and speaking to customer care person goes waste. It has happended with me several times.

I've been having Airtel connection for the past 8 Years. Their support has been pathetic. Today when i tried to call customercare to get to know the 3G plans. They are asking me to shellout 50p for 3 minutes.

I do have a BSNL 3G. I don't except gr8 support from them but the cost is nearly 50% less compared to other Telcos. So i could compromise here.

BSNL is offering gud stuff now. I always get prompt replies from them, ofcourse a visit to their office is must. But then we need gud services for ourselves, and abv all, we can catch BSNL people here and there. They have so many offices. With pvt telcos, nobody knows from where r they talking on phone.

Indeed, one can never praise Airtel & its honety enough.

On my Airtel pre paid no., I had the privelege of having my balance mysteriously reduce automatically! After months & hundreds of rupees later, I was able to disconnect the Daily Reducing Plan!!!! After that, Airtel has been very kind & not deducted anything, especially after I sent them some emails about legal action etc. AND put my name in a DND list.

2) A relative of mine, a 50 yr. widow, was defrauded with unsolicited packages like caller / hello tunes by Airtel, three or four times. She lost around Rs. 300 a good amount for her, on these schemes. She could not do anything, because her mobile number had been shared with a number of people and it would be difficult to communicate to all about a new number.

3) Airtel allows their cusht - o - mers to pay for calls to Airtels help lines!

Indeed, there cannot be another honest, high quality company like Airtel.

Fortunately I have a post paid with another service provider, who is not so honest, and actually bills me for services used without any unsolicited rubbish.

I have heard there is only one company in India, that is even more 'honest' than Airtel, in the field of Infocomm, Mera Papa Ka Sapna, anyone?

Cheers.

NUMBER PORTABILITY
by satya saka on Jan 25, 2011 10:11 AM  | Hide replies

it is great news to hear about number portability.
signals are weak with some providers like idea. airtel has somewhat good signalling. call drops are frequent even with full signal in the mobile. service providers must show respect to customers. bsnl is the worst followed by idea.

Interesting, how a lot of people are complaining about Idea signal issues and praising Airtel.

Some 'honest' companies feel, why waste money on conventional advertising, when web chat rooms are there?

I don't use Idea, I have an Airtel Pre Paid and Vodafone Post Paid service.

mnp will be somewhat helpful
by gaurang patel on Jan 25, 2011 10:08 AM

today most of the operators have very bad practice of business when it comes to telecom. say for e.g. i bought 1 prepaid card of airtel having balance of 80 rs. along with its card they already activate news service with it which cost 30 rs per month. after 1 month i came to knew of the default service that is activated & i had to call their helpdesk. nowadays they are also charging for calling their helpdesk. so inspite of their own fault they deduct unnecessary service charge plus we had to also pay them for calling their helpdesk. like this imagine when a farmer purchases his card & then his whole balance would get dedected by this kind of default charges. now when they start their services no sms is given & every month they deduct money without clients prior consent. Until this kind of bad practice is stopped nothing will change for indian customer. besides this problem there is always problem for unnecessary ad sms & inspite of do not dial register i still get marketing calls. so in short most of the operators have started bad practices like activating some default services like ringtone, newservice, gprs etc etc. to earn huge money for themselves. Even their helpdesk is not free. with mnb nothing will change except ur operator which is sure to dedect your balance in one way or other after all their motto is not client service but only to fill into their pockets. looks like trai is also with them as they have given them perm

Look out Vodafone

Vodafone is the only operator that charges roaming whenever a number from maharashtra & goa comes mumbai. They may loose a lot of customers this way as many people travel to mumbai for a living

Err, Jason was complaining about Mahrashtra & Goa subscribers both being charged roaming in Mumbai circle. So who should be 'blocked from coming mumbai'? Both Maharashtrians & Goans?

Confusion.

MNP may not help the customer, but some Providers will pay a price
by Joseph Purathur on Jan 25, 2011 09:56 AM  | Hide replies

I wanted to shift from Reliance communications because of poor customer care, and deductions from balance amount on account of 'unsolicited' schemes, and things like that. I sent an email to Tata Docomo that I want to shift. Promptly they replied that someone will soon contact me. That was three days ago, but nobody has contacted me. If this is the indication of future service from a competitor to Reliance, one can only wonder whether anybody will be better than others! I think, they are all in the business of fooling the customer, at least in the long run. Because of widespread anger among the mobile phone users against their Providers, I think, there will be considerable churning (shifting from one provider to another), but whether it will result in any good to the (helpless) consumer, only time will tell.

Tata telecom is another story altogether!
WHen I call anyone with a Tata Docomo number, I'm mentally prepared to hear a "sorry, unreachable" message at least 50% of the time.

They're still getting their act together, the Tata Telecom guys. Maybe they could ask Nira Radia if she knows any good telecom infrastructure provider, like towers etc. ?

Systemic Problem
by amit nakra on Jan 25, 2011 09:55 AM

Companies views on what they think about the customer requirement form the system in which they operate. This may not necessarily be what the customer wants. The problems which customers face are known when he/ she uses the system (esp network problems). How a company addresses these issues brings out the winner. As far as the consusmers are concerned they work on the mentality that grass is greener on the other side, so will keep on switching till they realize which operator works out best for them in the as is situation.
