3 use Indus Towers
by Saurabh Gupta on Jan 27, 2011 09:59 AM

!dea, Voda & Bharti use Indus Towers via JV for netwrok, service quality is more or less the same, Bharti Airtel a bit costlier.
Next could be Tata-DOCOMO.
Besides the 4, all are laggards in service, Reliance has lot of hidden charges with sick handsets.
MTS, Uninor, Loop, Videocon etc. use Tata, Bharti, !dea etc. numbers often for calling customers...!!

MNP - - good or bad ?
by kalyanaraman s. on Jan 26, 2011 05:19 PM

the article and the reactions, while good, do not tell the whole story:

1) MNP is available only within the circle. Thus if you have a mobile number in mumbai, you can change only to another service provider with the same number within Mumbai and not outside the circle. I do not how one of the respondents said that he changed from Mumbai to Gulbarga and then to Raipur with the same number!

2) in the case of pre-paid connection, all the balance will be gone. hence it makes sense to clean up your balance before switching over ! No such problems in post-paid, where you need to have cleared all your bills.

3) since MNP is only within the circle, pick an operator who has a good connectivity and network and who is reliable; bear in mind that the same operator may be lousy elsewhere !

cheers

Coincidence?

I was wondering how so many Bengalis feature in this article! No offence but isn't it rather unusual?

Airtel Cheating
by dharmendra jadoun on Jan 26, 2011 04:03 PM  | Hide replies

Every other week i find some value added services getting activated and balance deducted.

This is not once but happened many time and on more then one phone.

Top of it worse part is that i did not find a way to turn of these services, no easy way to speak to customer care , just keep selecting options and ALSO they charge to contact customer care. -- anything more worse possible ???

Any suggestion which service provider is more honest.

Customer Service in India
by Mansoor Khan on Jan 26, 2011 04:01 PM

The worst thing in India is the customer service, may be it mobile operator or any xyz company. Definitely not all customers will be unhappy or happy with a particular company. Things are OK as far as they go trouble free. It is only when you face a problem, the customer service comes into picture. Not many companies are courteous to reply your query or problem. Ultimately the customer is left helpless not knowing what to do. Same is the case for mobile operators. It doesn't affect their business if a few hundred customers join them or leave them since they are more money(profit) oriented rather than customer oriented.

mentality has to change , attitude to service is the solution not a policy to be forced ,yes the power to choose is important , but the infrastructure is same. so some topline policies have to be changed as well
